You watch he (and North) get selected for the 1st test. They'll say North got a ton in his last test and Hussey still averages 50 in test cricket ( or some feeble excuse like that)

Hitting them well in the nets, great boys to have around the team, a big score is around the corner, have good records against england blah blah blah.

I agree, they will both be playing in the 1st test.

Does Michael Clarke really believe he's a better 20/20 opener than Warner?
If ever there was a selfish decision by a skipper then this was it.

Fair dinkum, they've all lost the plot.
The best 20/20 bat in the country can't get a gig.
The worst opens the batting.
The best keeper is about to be overlooked for an inferior keeper who lacks match practice.
Our ex selector didn't have Foxtel to watch all the games.
The head selector has said they haven't ruled out Lee.
A specialist test number 4 bat has an average of 28 in 2010 and will keep his spot because he's a good bloke.
A number 6 test dud will keep his spot because the selectors think he bowls ok.
etc etc.

God help us. I'm almost hoping the poms flog us so the selectors will wake up and start culling.

Yep he should be sacked over that.

I'm already there, go poms.

Hilditch is an absolute joke.
How can the chairman of selectors be part time like he is.
*smile* him off too.

I agree with you Craig. When I read recently that when Greg Chappell was recently signed he became Australia's first full time selector, I nearly fell off my chair! You would think the chaiman of selectors would be full time wouldn't you?

The cull needs to include the selection panel as well. It's not a lack of talent in Australian cricket that's the problem, it's the old boys club mentality, where present form means nothing and building for the future means even less. They are simply not competent or fit to be allowed to continue. If England beating Australia on home soil to sees them turfed out it's a price I am almost willing to pay.

Agree. On the money on all counts Tygrys.

The thing is, I can't see the Poms beating us.

Their bowling looks very thin. Their quicks lack experience, and Swann is not going to be a factor on most Australian pitches.

The thing is though, once an opposition attack gets a run on against us, it is like 3 out all out. With our mentally fragile middle and lower order, I can see the poms running through us a few times in the series.

I reckon it will be very close.

just another example of my apathy towards cricket... i opened up the newspaper on monday and apparently there was a 20/20 game on sunday night. i had no idea it was on... i still would have watched bones regardless.

Almost choked when I read this comment from Clarke in todays Age as Clarke defended his decision to open and push Watson down to 3:

"I felt good. Both Davey (Warner) and I hit "6" balls in the first 3 overs of the middle of the bat which went straight to the field, which was disappointing. If they find the gap we're off to a decent start"

hhhmmmmm. Someone better explain the fundaments of cricket to Pup! That's one of the main aims of the game there Mickey! You are meant to hit the ball where the fielders aren't. If you do hit it to them then you're not doing your job properly and/or the captain of the fielding team is doing there's properly.

Sort of like excusing yourself for getting bowled :" yeah, if the ball was just 2cm further to the right I woudn't have got bowled and I would have been off to a flyer!"

As this is a footy website a footy analogy is the constant blaming of inaccuracy for losing a game. "If that "poster" had of been 3 inches to the left it would have been a goal and we would have had the momentum ....." Well the player didnt kick it 3 inches to the left and it wasn't a goal. Every team can say "if" ........

We have looked fragile in our batting for quite some time now.

Who do you reckon will win the series then?

I really don't know. I think it will be very close.

If i were a betting man, I would say it would be 3-2 in our favor. Weather the only way we will get draws I think, as both batting lineups are suspect and wouldn't bat the opposition out of the game.
