Steve Smith also showed the other night he has a long way to go with his bowling.

As a budding leggie Smith should not be used to bowl in that 20/20 *smile*.

Will have his confidence shattered beyond repair.

Got plenty of others to bowl in 20/20.

Smith needs to be brought on and developed not wasted in 20/20.

Exactly

l see the backslappers club is in full swing with Ponting backing Hussey.l guess the selectors will fall for this.

Todays cricket match highlights the lack of insight with programming and even more so imo highlights the lack of public interest that is befalling cricket in this country.

A crowd 80% to 90 % sri lankan support at the MCG is a joke of the highest order.

If not for the Ashes this year i reckon crowds would be right down.

Tell you somthing that really p!sses me off and is double standards and discriminatory, how come ethnic fans can take trumpets and drums to the cricket when aussie fans arent allowed to or never used to be allowed to.

Obviously a lot of Sri Lankans living off my hard made tax doallrs too if they are all at the cricket today.

Seems to be a common thread listening to radio talk back and reading forums that seems a distinct drop off in interest in cricket.

Reasons ive read and heard

20/ 20 has crippled 50 over games and has left world cricket saturated with games no one cares about.

Lack of quality Test cricket alienating purists.

Sub continant cricket with the whip hand of BCCI destroying world cricket for profit with other nations meekly pandering to them bending the rules for them and bending under the race card which is played every time things dont gont their way and following them and their drip feed of $ to the destruction of the great game..

Boys club persona of Aussie cricket has off put many, with saturation of underperforming cricketers prancing around in tv ads at the behest of sponors is also unpopular in the eyes of many.

Selectors oblivious to the plight of the side and the drop in rating of Aussie cricket.

The Ashes is the only saving grace for Cricket Australia this year, without the Poms coming over i wouldnt give a rats about cricket, and im sure many others would be of the same persuasion i dont like the make up of the side, the selection processes or the way things are going and im not alone it seems the masses are getting weary of the oversaturation of rubbish.

Whats even moreso of a concern re the Ashes, the Poms may have a better preparartion out here than the Aussies with 3 tour games whilst the Aussies are playing hit and giggle with the Sri Lankans for no real reason except they seemingly have to.

Cricket really is in danger in Australia right now going forward especially with domestic comps also bout to give in to the $$$ from India, god help cricket and the development of young talent in Australia once State teams no longer represent States and international blow ins take up places for young Aussie players. See County cricket in England and why its stuffed, with the Poms having to poach half their side from South Africa.

Im over cricket and it saddens me because i used to love the game so much.

Well summed up Craig. Echoes my own thoughts.

Navy reckons its good to see the Sri Lankan crowd in & in full voice.

Adds plenty to the contest.

Is there a better batsman to watch than Sangakarra. A joy.

I have not seen a ball yet...been watchin highlights of the Ryder Cup on FoxSports.

A couple of years ago, nothing would have kept me from watching the Aussies, now I could not care less. The test series will be a different story for me though.

Jayasuria would go close.

Jaya doesnt hold a candle to the array of shots & the ease of them that Sanga has.

We all like different things though.

Xavier Doherty has just turned the game with his spell of 3 for 3 off 2 overs.

How the best bowler for the best one-day team hasnt been given a run before now is amazing. Especially when the guy that has kept him out is Nathan Hauritz.

Craig sums it all up for me too. Particularly the part about having once loved the game so much.

Doherty 3 for 3 off his first two overs. See what can happen when they someone else?
