Cricket

I think 3 quicks plus Watson is enough.
If they can't do enough damage then I doubt an extra quick will help.

My biggest concern is possibly going into a match with injuries to Clarke, Katich, Bollinger and maybe Harris.
I don't believe we can play 2 wounded/in recovery fast bowlers, plus Johnson who bowled 11 wides in Club Cricket at the weekend.
The Selectors are really playing with fire if they think we, the cricketing public, are going to swallow their bullsh*t forever.

l'd be surprised if Bollinger or Harris played particularly Harris who appears to have some bad knee issues.

I think one of the above will play this week. I would play Harris based on what he did last week. I do want Siddle in, but he has not set the world on fire this season.

Chris Gayle has smashed a triple century and is still not out halfway through day 2 against Sri Lanka, with the windies 3 for 532 in the first innings of the test. He's 312 off 403 balls with 32 fours and 9 sixes.
Another batsman to make a big score overnight was Brendan McCullum with 225 in NZ's 8 for 448 declared setting india 327 for the win.

Chris Gayle....you freak!

New Zealand have been surprisingly competitive over in India...have been in winning positions in both tests and will likely get out of the series with a draw at worst. Puts our series in India in perspective.

Also, imagine watching Gayle and Sewag opening together...I would travel a long way to see that.

I saw Gayle open with Gilchrist, and Sehwag with Jayasuriya in the tsunami benefit match. Unfortunately Gayle made 1 but the others scored quick runs and Ponting and Lara shared a century partnership. Chris Cairns was in awesome nick, some massive hitting. Great day for the spirit/power of cricket that one.

Gayle out for 333 by the way.

Still a test to go in India so the Kiwis could still win, lose or draw.

My bad thought it was a 2 test series.

Harris no chance as pulled out of the Australia A team due to injury. Bollinger playing for NSW v TAS . If he gets through unscathed he’ll be named in the 1st test 12 , same for Siddle .

Seems less likely we’ll see any batting new blood as all 3 hopefuls out cheaply v England 2nd string bowling (all 1st choice attack have gone straight to Brisbane to acclimatise) in Hobart . Aust A currently 4/66

Katich & Watson both failed in Sydney.

Other than Michael clarke, we don't really have any batsmen in any decent form at the moment who is in the test squad.

l guess Watson has been in reasonable form,we look to be in real trouble with the bat.

Its bloody good having all these games on with the national players fronting up.

Should be engrained in the fixture prior to the first test every year.
