What do they do if North & Hussey fail in the 1st test?tigertim said:Which of course will make the job of Cox, Boon, Chappell and Hilditch so much easier...for which they are probably thankful! Imagine if they had to make a hard decision!

Thats enough,it is disappointing Kawaja & ferguson didn't make the most of their opportunitiestigertim said:What they always do MB, pick them again and mention how they were in form in the shield match just before the firt test, mention how Norths spin is handy and mention how Hussey's been such a tremendous player for Australia in the past, mention how Ferguson and Khawaja didn't quite take their chance in the Australia A game....need more?

Disagree, coming back from injury,l'd play Siddle ahead of him.spook said:Bollinger must play. Strauss far and away the most important wicket.
Punxsutawney Phil said:Goos summation Tim...I can see them saying exactly that. Maybe add something about how well they are hitting them in the nets and how important they are to have around the dressingroom and i reckon you have nailed it.
What is his test average the last couple of years?tigertim said:I forgot the most obvious one! Hilditch said it in todays paper, "Hussey averages 50 for Australia". Yep he sure does except its come down from 75!
your joking rightNavy Days said:Not sure if its the recent upgrade in intelligence from Merv Hughes to Greg Chappell has had anything to do with it, but its hard for even the harshest critic to have any complaints about the way the selectors have gone about things so far this summer.
Given they were forced to name a squad when told, they then gave near every player a chance to push for a cap & have since picked those on form.
Whether they keep that mantra going is another thing, but hard to have a knock them of late.

tigertim said:Interesting little article by Peter Roebuck in the Age today:
"MERV VICTIM: The decision to ditch Merv Hughes as a selector was as wrong as it was predictable. The selection panel now consists entirely of batsmen. Two are from Tasmania and 2 from SA. Hughes was dumped because of his caractiture as a blunt and blue-singleted battler fond of a beer. In fact he is a thoughtful and sensitive observer of the game.
Moreover, he had the humility to study selection strategies before taking up the position. And suggestions that Hughes was compromised by his work as a tour guide simply silly. Jamie Cox and David Boon have conflicts of interest due to their state committments."
Well said Peter.
And all were pretty dour type batsmentigertim said:Interesting little article by Peter Roebuck in the Age today:
