We will already play 4 quicks if you include the overs that Watson will no doubt bowl.

McDonald, yes unlucky. Khawaja couldnt get runs in either innings against the 2nd string English attack so its hard to justify picking him to step up a week later. Hussey is too old & Cossie has a wee fitness issue to work through before getting higher honours.

Not sure of the relevance of all of the bowlers you mention. Greg Chappell is rightly a stickler for a well balanced team, a spinner will play. Doherty is suited to all the english right handers & will prove far harder to get away than horrible Hauritz.

Thats unless those bowlers they are deemed by you to be ahead of Hilfy, Johnson, Dougie & Siddle who all bar Johnson (who was man of the match against Vic) have performed well for Aus in the past 12 months they have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Oh dear. I have no desire to see any of the aforementioned bowlers in the team but you said that Doherty should be picked for his domestic form hence I name other bowlers that have had good domestic form. All of those bowlers have better current form than Dougie for eg. So why aren't you pushing for them? Hasnt it been mentioned that ( apart frm India) that Hauritz has done well for Australia as well?

Never mind, we aren't going to agree so we'll just see what happens with the spinners over the summer.

I'm confused.
The current lot are hopeless and the next lot aren't good enough.
Is this where we are ATM?

In the long term, surely Smith would be a better bet than Doherty. Plus he can bat a bit.
What's wrong with blooding him and giving him time to mature?
Smith doesn't spin the ball & unless he does something quickly with his bowling he'll end up like Cameron White.

Yep or like Clarke
I remember when he first played, potential allrounder

People get excited with Smith because he can bat & field but his bowling is average.lt needs a dramatic improvement.

It certainly does. I haven't seen him bowl, but from reports O'Keefe is a better spinning prospect, and he can bat a bit.

l would think O'Keefe is a better prospect

Looks like Siddle will get the nod & Bollinger will be left out,the only question remains is will Clarke play who has a back injury.

1 Simon Katich, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Marcus North, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Xavier Doherty, 10 Peter Siddle, 11 Ben Hilfenhaus

Where is the falling asleep smiley?

Just what we need, a half fit Michael Clarke in the side.

Indeed. You watch him fail and ALLUDE to it being because of his back but not actually admitting so ( because that would make him look wrong for playing)

& another 3 players in the test side from the state that has 2% of the population.

Also followers dont worry there will be some bets throughout the series to follow as we continue our amazing run. But for now we will wait & see how two teams who look very evenly matched start the series out.
