Mitchell Johnso seems to have lost his mojo. His batting was limp, 19 balls for a duck, and showed no intent to strike the ball. 11 Ducks in 54 innings, and his bowling was all over the shop.

Looked lost some time ago unfortunately.

While the focus of change has been on our batting line-up, surely Mitch will be given a rest.

Was at the first 2 days of this test, a few observations
- Hussey played a gem. His pulling was fantastic. It was the Mr Cricket of old.
- Haddin deserves plenty of praise for his ability to play with heaps of patience. I thought he would play a loose drive at some stage but he did exactly what was required. Reckon his lazy effort to catch Anderson may have given him a bit of a spur. Proved he has a bit of steel to go with the flair.
- The Aussie batsman left more balls than I could ever remember, obviously a plan to expose the lack of extra bowling options
- Clarke was clearly troubled by his back. Firstly, he fielded out of his usual position. Then he played one of the most painful innings I've ever seen live from a top order batsman. No timing, continually playing and missing and almost looked relieved when he was finally dismissed. Decision to play him looks extremely questionable
- Being live for a hat trick is pretty special. And we got the bonus of celebrating twice after Broad's referral. Priceless.
- Bowlers from both teams bowled too short on the whole. Wasn't much pace in the pitch so some pretty poor execution from the bowlers.

Draw looking more and more likely now. Our bowling has rarely looked threatening this morning. Won't be a good result if we can't win after having a 200+ 1st innings lead....

Going to be the story of the series...two pretty average attacks who will struggle to take 20 wickets.

Replace Johnson with Bollinger and our bowling looks more threatening, although the tail looks disturbingly long. Not sure Doherty is the spin answer.

Well Johnson's batting has been as bad as his bowling lately, so we won't lose anything there.

This match thus far has been typical of Australian cricket for the past few years- a good first innings built by only a handful of contributions, and then our inability to knock sides over in the 2nd innings.

All we need now is a 2nd innings batting collapse which could well and truly be on the cards. Been a horrendous 4th day.

Agree,Doherty hasn't disgraced himself though

Scooper has fallen back in love with cricket over the last four days and I have barely watched a ball.

I always try and pinch 4 or 5 days late November down at Sorrento to fire yourself up for the Christmas rush. Took a few books down (Richo and Cuzzy books are must reads burnt through them in a couple of days, superb) and just put the radio on ABC cricket. Get on the balcony on the day bed, read and have the cricket on overlooking the water or watching the rain come in. Just recharge before the rush. Besides Warne there is no one I want to hear on nine, tried watching a session but it was a nightmare, ads, product placement and Two and Half men reminders. Just rubbish.

Would rather listen to Kerry O' Keefe and Jonathon Agnew rabbit on about what Indian place they are going to have dinner at. ;D The cricket talk is also so much better. Maybe cause it is was background noise, maybe because I was relaxing by the bay but I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed the cricket so much.

Doherty has been an improvement on Hauritz. Looks handy, should be given an extended stay.

Johnson needs a spell, has lost about 10 to 15 kph. Needs to be at his peak to be dangerous.

Have to give credit to the English batsmen as well though, they have performed very well today.

Totally agree, purchased one of those Ashes radio's at the cricket for the first 2 days and you had the choice between the ABC and 9 commentary - no choice at all. Although listening to Warne on cricket is like listening to Malthouse on footy - genius.

Looks likea draw, yesterday l thought the ashes would comeback to us.Now l'm not confident at all

Me neither.

Predicted we would win the ashes pre-series, but having watched our attack flounder yesterday, it is difficult to see how we will take 20 wickets in a match this series.

At least england's attack looked threatening at stages during the Haddin/Hussey partnership. We have hardly looked like getting a wicket this innings.

The focus on our batting problems has certainly hidden our bowling woes. But seriously, the pitch looks to have flattened out. Drop Mitch and bring in Bollinger and things could look a lot different on a more bowler friendly pitch.

Even though the English did bowl well at Hussey and Haddin, they both survived it and I wouldn't have said they were our most inform batsmen going into the game.

I still think we will win the series, but the one thing that has to improve is our catching. We will not get 20 wickets in a match if we drop one or two each innings, because the English will not give that many chances.
