Victorians have had a chip on their shoulder about National cricket selection ever since Dean Jones got given the flick. Can you imagine feeling hard done by over that? :hihi

I'll admit I think Hodge was unlucky not to have had the chance at a top flight career.

Good post.

Whilst dean Jones is bit of a w#nker he was dropped from the Aust side after leading the averages on a Sri Lanka tour just before the Aust summer.

Good decision to have Johnson dropped from the squad. Needs time away to work on his action.

Interesting to see Hughes would have played him so he didnt hurt his confidence. :hihi

I saw that Navy...every time Merv opens his mouth it makes me realise why he was dumped as a selector.

I hope Johnson can get it right- there is no doubt if he can get his arm higher, get his wrist in the right position and start to swing the ball into the right handers he will be a handful for most batsmen. Just not sure with his kind of action it can be done.

Yeah he had it going for a good period against Sth Africa didnt. Though that was mainly away from the right hander from memory.

Navy knows more about the mechanics of batting than bowling, but its right what you say on his technique. His arm is barely above 90 degrees on delivery at the moment.

We're looking a bit fragile these days. Ricky's not handling the pressure very well. Lucky not to be fined and/or suspended for his tanty during 1st Test. Not too sure about his praise re Harris selection either..... whether he wanted Hilfy gone or prefers Harris to Dougie B.

When the captain drops his head it's not long before others follow. Clarke and Johnson being prime examples. Would never have happened under Steve Waugh!

Where would we have been without the fighting spirit of Hussey, Haddin and Sid Vicious?

Good to see Johnson droppped but it seems North has escaped the noose....again! When will Cox, Boon, Hilditch et al grow some balls and drop the dud North?

I went to the gabba test with 5 mates & have a reasoning (or at least contributing factor) behind declining crowds & interest in the game.

When entering the gabba we were told we couldnt bring in a back pack as it had more than 1 zip, yes thats right cause it has 2 zips. Also a mate couldnt wear a baseball cap as it has a maccas symbol on it, a small one. Now youd suspect this was a directive of KFC being a sponsor yet their were maccas advertisments around the ground. Finally I couldnt bring in a water bottle, told I had to buy it from in the ground (they relented on this by day 3 so long as it wasnt opened).

Cant tap a beach ball around, start a wave, skull a beer, scratch my arse or generally look like you might be enjoying yourself.

Now I may be exagerating a little but I think they should be doing all they can to make attending the longer forms of the game (that make them the most money) as enjoyable as possible.

It certainly is ridiculous.

Absolutely ridiculous. the average (and I am not calling you average AZZA :hihi) will be driven away with all of this over-policing. Wasn't a good look to see a practically empty ground on day 5.
