Two good wicket taking balls. Katich was his own fault, there was a run in that.

Clarke looks like he is a 105. Only has 12 months in him with that back.

He is not the next skipper.

Clarke's back may be the reason he is struggling, but it wasnt a factor today.

Is just horribly out of sorts. Feet movement is everywhere.

Yep, as you said, has been an issue for a while now. Was terrible in India.

I was referring to your Ponting call. Finished.

As Navy said a long way to go in this series.

He will get another 7 innings before that Ponting bet is finished. Still well & truelly alive.

Ponting is generally shakey early in his innings, looked in reasonable nick in the 2nd innings of Brisbane test so l'd expect him to bounce back.

Yeah he did look in good nick.

As opposed to Clarke who navy thinks played & missed 3 times just in todays very short innings.

Haha you seem to be taking it to heart. Your comment "a big series from here on in" is what's finished. Needs ammending to from next innings on.

No not taking it to heart. Navy rarely does.

Just amused/bemused that you think navy's Ponting bet is finished when there is still a long way to go.

Aus looking better now. Watson in particular. Finn bowling poor.

Get through to lunch & the first session's honours will be shared.

is it worth bringing in a mitch marsh and grooming him for the captaincy from now

Need to groom someone. There is no natural successor to Ricky at this stage. Wouldn't want pretty boy Clarke leading the side.

Not for Navy. Is a mile of being a test player. Is a bit overrated at this stage of his career INO. Think there's better young prospects around.

Think he's out injured for a few months anyway blinger.

Can't agree with you there Navy.

3 wickets in the first session would see honours with England I reckon, regardless of how big the Watson/Hussey partnership is by then.

Just reckon you need to budget at least a couple on the first morning of a test.

Runs will be far easier later this afternoon.

Massive innings for North coming up. Needs to stand up today.

Just bemused that you think my Ponting bet is finished when there is still a long way to go.

I expect Ricky to come good too.  I wasn't commenting on your bet, just the comment about Ricky. There is no doubt by saying "The angry ant Ricky Ponting looks even more determined than usual & could be up for a big series from here on in." you were expecting a far better first innings from him and your call to your followers was at least a tad premature.  Fingers crossed Ricky can lead by example from now on in and help Australia reclaim the Ashes.

Of course we were expecting a better innings. Big difference to it being finished as you said.

Agree on the latter though. Hopefully he can lead us to getting that little urn back.

Know far too many poms including mrs navy for anything else to be palatable.

On another tangent, how good does the Adelaide oval look.

The re-development looks to have kept all of the grounds character.

Certainly the most beautiful cricket ground in the country.
