The way the selectors now handle this performance is going to be very interesting.

Will Johnson and Hilfenhaus have Shield games before Perth to push their case?

Have Harris or Bollinger looked dangerous enough to hold their spots? Or Siddle for that matter? Who is the next one to try? Cameron, McKay, George, Pattinson, Starc, Faulkner?

Do we need a spinner in Perth? Looks like Doherty is gone, so do they go back to Hauritz, or take a chance on Smith which also strengthens the batting?

Does North get one last chance on his home deck, and does his spin help keep him in the team?

Is Katich fit to take his spot? If so, can he slide back down to 6 to take North's spot and Hughes comes back to open? Is Hughes playing in Perth playing into the Poms hands as we know they will try to test him out with short stuff?

Has Ferguson or Khawaja been in good enough form to be called up? Is Clarke sore, out of form or both? Is there someone from left field?

Lots of questions.....very few answers at this stage.

They lack the guts to make the hard calls, which so happens to be the right calls.

I expect minimal changes. One or two scapegoats maybe, but the majority to survive. If it keeps raining and it ends in a draw, they will be thinking they are on the right track. Covering over the cracks.

The Australian Selectors. Is there a bigger joke of people anywhere?

Spot on Phil, how we could only make 245 on a flat track is beyond me

I think there was a little life in it early, which the English exploited. Let's face it, they took their chances and made us pay.

Their bowling has been planned and well executed. Our's has lacked any real plan, and our bowlers have not delivered consistently Harris excluded. Amazing to think that they only have four bowlers, and we effectively have 5 with Watson.

You also have to give great credit to Swan on that first day. He bowled brilliantly to tie us up at one end and keep the pressure on for the quicks.

Khawaja is dominating atm, leading run scorer so far with 414 runs @ 68, including a double ton

Despite being 300 runs in front Poms are batting on.
They are grinding us into the dirt.

The only thing that will save us is the weather. I can't see our batsmen putting up the kind of resistance england did at the GABBA.

People spouting that its still nil all are deluding themselves. This game and dare I say it, the Ashes, are gone.

I don`t quite understand the logic behind wanting Watson moved down the order.

He plays the new ball quite well and consistently makes around 50 and then goes out once the ball starts to get a bit old.

So why is he going to be better batting down the order and coming in when the ball is already old?

He's better to stay where he is but he needs to go on & make some big scores.
