Watson gone for 57,he's been good but needs to go on & get a big score.

Exactly. Needs to have some really long innings, like Strauss and Cook have. The test match needs saving....50s won't do it.

Ponting's form is a big worry....just add that to the list.

Rain is our only saviour, although all it will do is delay the inevitable by another test.

I don`t quite understand the logic behind wanting Watson moved down the order.

Because genuine openers convert their starts into big scores, Watson doesn't. Handy stop gap measure until the likes of Hughes & Marsh step up, nothing more....

Disagree,Kattich is near the end so its best Watson stays opening unless there are 2 openers that magically appear that can do the job.Hughes will get his chance in Perth.

Hughes would want to score some runs in the shield match starting tomorrow.

Game over but will our highly visibly selection panel ( you know them dont you?, Jamie Cox, David Boon etc) have the balls to make the hard calls?

Clarke out to the fourth last ball of the day, caught at silly mid on and bowled by Petersen.

Petersen whose bowling average before that was 138.

Clarke is so weak mentally. During the India series it was mentioned that Clarke has been out six times in the last over before stumps or tea. So that will now make it 7.

It wil be an important game for Ferguson and Khawaja as well. Both are in good form lately. It should be an interesting game with what's riding on it as there could be two test spots up for grabs.

Given the injury to Katich appears serious, looks like Hughes will be a walk up for the next test. Only real compeition at the moment is Jaques. There are some promising youngsters around, but I think it is too early to throw them in.

Hopefully Hughes has sorted out his supposed technique issues though, because he will get well and truely tested by the English attack at the WACA.

If we hang on for a draw and go to Perth at 0-0, what do the selectors do?

I'd suggest that Doherty needs to get some time out. If he struggles on the Adelaide pitch, I'd have thought that the WACA was no place for him.

Problem is though that having watched a lot of cricket at the ground, I firmly believe you have to have a spinner on that deck to hold up an end for you if you don't have 4 premium quicks. And we don't.

So who should get a go in front of Doherty or does he stay in?

Good call. Was thinking the same thing when he went out
