No not flash, but not horrible. Same as Strauss & similar to Cooks career average.

Career average? What about recent form?
Grasping at statistical straws there Daisy when comparing a number 3 against younger guys who take the new ball.

Strauss career average where he's always been a key player is 43. Ponting this year 42.

We've been spoilt expecting guys to average 50 because of our glut of talent in recent times.

Saying that Ponting does have to lift. But there not horrible numbers.

As for take the new ball, Ponting has batted at the crucial number 3 where he's come in early for a lot of his career.

Jonathan Trott is averaging 60 after his first 25 innings.
Compare this with a 36 year old well past his best.

He's been in amazing form. Can he keep it up once teams start putting more time into him will be his challenge. It has brought many others that have come on the test scene with a bang back to earth.

Not sure of the point.

Fancy a wager that Trott doesnt continue that average Tooheys.
He's in the easiest part of his career.

4 of his 15 tests against Bangledesh.

Your confident he will perform in the subcontinent where he has never been tested.

Averages 27 against Sth Africa who are the only decent bowling attacke he's faced.

Things will get harder for him the same as every player that comes on the scene. His technique will be disected to the enth degree. History tells us that.

North, Bollinger & Doherty certain ommissions for navy.

Oh Katich as well.

Ever been 4 changes before.

Not much of a betting man Daisy but I think you'd better hang onto your money after this week. ;D

Got easy runs against Australia too. :-[

Ponting said that this innings will give us a chance to show what we are made of. We aren't made of much unfortunately.

Pathetic performance by supposedly the best 11 cricketers in the country.

All over.

Appropriate really....the test started with an Australian collapse and ended with one. In the middle, England bowled and caught well, and their batsmen treated our pie chuckers with absolute contempt. An almighty flogging. first time we have lost at home by an innings since 1993 apparently.

We have sunk to new lows. Looking forward to the Terry Wallace-like spin now...

I’d like to see the best credentialled 4-5 under 25 year olds brought into the side & kept there for the series regardless . No more 30+ year olds to replace other 30+ year olds.. Sadly , particularly wrt young bowlers , seems they’re all crocked ..

Not one of navy's better calls JB. ;D

Aus have been out played since Katichs runout in the first over of the match.

See Englands seamers that didnt play are already out bowling on Adelaide's centre wicket as they vie for Stuart Broads spot.
