Much prefer we would have lost a player in the middle order than Katich as its the one place we a have some degree of depth of talent available.

yeah Smith took a few which is good to see.
Although 3 of them were 8,10 & 11 in the order & he did get spanked by the No 9.
Certainly wont hurt his chances though it will depend on the perth pitch.
No 6 he would be OK, but certainly not at 8 as a full-time bowler.
