No. Poms mistake was sending the Aussies in. Should always bat first.

With our soft top order you cant assume we'll make enough runs to cover the Poms 2nd innings.

Watson has done well to grind out a half century in this important session whilst other batsmen have fallen around him. We should move him down the order.

I honestly think we will need 450.

History shows that in recent tests at the WACA, the side batting last has made 300 consistently.

And given the lack of variety in our attack, we need to be able to really pile on the pressure with a mammoth target.

Tomorrow's first hour will be crucial.

Hard to believe a 4th innings could start on the 3rd day of the test

Agree that we will need a lot of runs, the wicket will improve over the last couple of days as it becomes less green.

Test cricket, particularly the ashes - don't you just love it. Today was one of the best days of cricket you will see. How good has the niggle been?

Much thanks must go to the curator, what a great wicket he has provided. Gotta have ticker and technique on that pitch. Even the disenchanted would have been thrilled with the day? Can hardly wait for tomorrow, how big will the Melb test be if we can square it up here?

Amazing how many fast bowlers drop too short at the WACA. Watson has been brilliant at waiting for the right ball. Great concentration, he's shown a belligerence I didn't think he had. He just may be maturing into a serious cricketer.

How can you doubt the survival of such a great game?

Agree with this. The game is so much better when wickets tumble. It removes the draw from the equation and the players have to play for a result.

Meaningless stat ... I wonder how many times in Test cricket have both captain and vice-captain been dismissed twice before the end of the second day.
