Waaay to streaky. Terrible technique.

His technique means he will never get runs between square leg round to the bowler Tooheys. Teams have done their homework.

Ponting just edges one to 2nd slip after starting to look good. :-[

I'm in favour of the referral system and hawkeye in general but there was no way that ball was going clear over the wickets on the Hussey referral. Very lucky IMO.

Tremlett gets a hell of a lot of bounce.

His deliveries for instance clear the stumps by a lot more than Anderson or Bresnan. Especially in the first session of a test where there's a lot more bounce.

It did hit him above the rolls while he was up on his toes......it was pretty high!

we'll be lucky to make 150 at this rate

IMHO Clarke is just about our best talent, however I believe he rarley delivers when it most matters, in saying that we dont really have any openers in this country worth too much (at this point), so like some of our best openers in recent times i.e Hayden , Langer I would promote Clarke to been an opener, yes he has with some sucess in ODI, I think he could really play a selfish hold up an end role and with his natural flair would buile into an innings nicly, could just be the mental swith he needs. I would also put Watson down to 5 and bowl him more, drop a bowler and bring in one of the young bats in Ferguson to bat at 6 or even put Hughes down there, like a lot of top liners start of there careers.Personally wouldnt be against bringin Paine in as Keeper and letting Haddin play as a speciallist batsman in his twilight

i.e Clarke
Katich/Hughes
Ponting
Hussey
Watson
Ferguson
Haddin
Smith
Johnson
Harris
Hilfenahaus/Bollinger

Not sure why/how Hughes is playing either.

Navy has long said his technique wont stand up to test cricket. That is playing out true.
Hughes was going ok until he played that silly shot.Like you Navy l'm surprised at Poms decision to send us in,Swann would have been pretty dangerous late in the test.

Interesting england put Aus in. Takes away a lot of the advantage of Swan bowling last. Strauss obviously has concerns about his batting lineup.

Dunno why he puts them in either.

Heh heh....Cricket Australia what a joke.

7/77.....I think the Queen just gave Australia the bird ;D

Well done P. Hughes, you have cemented your spot in the team with the second highest score in the first innings. That should shut your critics up.....

Lets just see how the Poms go on this wicket.

Aussies must use the wicket whilst it still has some juice in it.

This session may well determine the series.

Reliance on Watson and Hussey showed up today as many scribes have maintained.
