So with Cooley going, who should we look at for our next bowling coach?

I see McGrath has already turned it down.
We tend to pinch whoever the pommies are using when when they beat us so Saker will be our likely target.

It 'flattened out' because our bowlers aren't good enough Naisy.
What were England at stumps again on day 1? 150 odd for none wasn't it?

The pitch may have had some movement early but the Aussies were totally outclassed on that first day in Melbourne and highlighted the massive gulf between the two sides.

There is a lot of truth to what you say Tooheys. No question.

But its long odds on Englands batting collapses as on display at Brisbane & Perth would have yet again appeared if they batted first on a pitch like it was in the first session with the overcast skies that were also prevalent. it had happened 3 out of 3 time this series in those conditions. Game person to predict it wouldnt have followed that course.

Anyway as you say Aus simply werent good enough. Also good to see Neilson starting to cop some heat as the respective preperations of both sides were poles apart. Be good to see the ACB get the same. Especially if they reduce the shield season as mooted which will only make winning the ashes near impossible in the future.

Our bowlers did not help themselves on the first day in Melbourne with a poor bowling display, but which of our bowlers could have used the conditions like the English did if we bowled first? The answer is none.

Those conditions were ideal for swing bowlers. We do not have a genuine swing bowler, and we do not appear to have any coming through to the required level of ability.

IMO, Terry Alderman was the last truely good swing bowler we have had.
I reckon Fleming was a very good swing bowler. Unfortunately he was always injured when we toured England...he would have taken loads of wickets over there. You look at some of the best pace bowlers in the world at present- Steyn, Anderson, Aamir, Zaheer they all swing it. We have noone that comes close to these guys.

Yeah let's keep promoting this 20/20 garbage and get worse as far as player development for Test matches goes.

I always wanted our Victorian Premier / District cricket to have a big following throughout the summers but it never came to be.

I blame El Nino.

Must admit, I didn't think of Fleming.

Not only do we have no one who comes close to that list of current internationals you list, but we don't have much even playing at shield level.

Vics about to dispose of Qld in the big bash. We'll be hard to beat again this season.

Went along to my first 'Big Bash' tonight.
Must say that despite the plethora of fours and the odd six I was left completely underwhelmed.
The fireballs were pretty cool though.

Couldn't keep him still monty. Has no trouble at the footy though.
Surprised at the crowd of 30k but doubt we'll be back in a hurry.
l like the format, beats the tired & long winded 50 over games.

The one thing that the 20/20 game has done is to a degree its made cricket a more viable choice for those kids who excell and both cricket and football.EG:Alex Keith..Thank god the 20/20 game wasn,t around 6yrs ago.

I enjoyed watching the Vics spank it all over the park. :clap
The Vics will be very hard to beat. I still don't know where Prior is going to fit into the team.
