Just seems no plan, no team bowling plan for a set batsmen.

Everyone just throwing down what they like.
England are much more military in the way they bowl ( apart from that sesion to the tail, of course). They just bowl on a good length over after over, all day.

Clearly they have learnt a lot from watching McGrath over the years.

Whereas we haven't, what does that say about us?

For those who were watching the cricket live what did we think of Beer as a bowler.

I thought he looked promising. Wasn't afraid to throw it up, only bowled a few dodgy ones. Will want to hope that no-ball is an abberation.

Looked decent at this early stage. Has a good height which helps an off-spinner.

Not scared to give it a bit of air. Definately worth persisting with at this stage.

The two new boys looked very good.

Khawaja has a good technique, plays within himself, and looks comfortable.
Just needs to get more experience at Test level.

Beer throws the ball up nicely.
Thought he needed to hone in on middle to leg stump a little more, depending on left / right handed batsman.
Puts the batsman under a little more uncertainty re lbw & bowled.
Around off-stump, any batsman immediately starts looking to drive.
Bad luck about the no-ball wicket.

Like the field Clark set for Beer too.

I really liked having a guy like Khawaja in the team as it helped to put some interest into Aussie cricket for me.
One thing I did notice though is that he grips the bat extremely low down on the handle. Now I know he has probably batted this way all his life and he has just debuted for Australia, but I am wondering if that grip will affect his ability to drive the ball straight. I saw his cartwheel at one stage and it showed that he was very good at scoring runs square of the wicket, but he hadn't scored any from say cover to midwicket and forward of there.
Admittedly I have only seen him bat in that one innings and he appeared very technically correct, but I do wonder if scoring straight/straightish down the ground, is an area he beeds to work on.
For those that have seen a bit of him, is this even an issue?

I don't think so. Have seen him play some fierce drives at the WACA.

I think his cartwheel was due more to the disciplined English bowling and his discipline in leaving the ball outside off alone.

Do we have a bowling coach?? I can't believe our bowlers continue to bowl short of a good length all series and have learnt nothing from how good the English have been doing it.

Did he turn the ball much Navy?

How could the selectors have thought that Smith was a number 6 batsman ? He is a shocker tail ender at best! Selectors are disgrace bring in steve waugh to take charge

Beer seemed to bowl a lot of no balls or very close to it. Can't understand why he doesn't adjust back a smigin.
