Forget the Ashes. Tune into Fox Sports tonight and hope Sehwag gets going in pursuit of that 340. What a ripper of a series featuring two of the greatest cricketers of all time.

Yeah its been a cracking series between two excellent teams hasnt it spook.

Kallis another ton overnight.

A superb technician with both bat and ball. Catches everything that comes his way too. Ideal temperament. Has serious claims to be described as the second-greatest all-round cricketer ever. His numbers are very similar to Sobers, although I'm sure Sobers' batting strike rate would have been a fair bit higher. Nonetheless, a magnificent player: a bloke as hard to dismiss as Rahul Dravid, also capable of taking the pill and giving the best players a hurry-up. One of the best bowling actions I've ever seen. Bowls a lovely outswinger and a killer bouncer. And in 15 years at the top level I can't recall a single controversial incident or example of less than exemplary behaviour. A giant of the game who doesn't get the kudos he deserves.

Certainly the best all rounder of our generation. Hadlee, Kapil, Botham and Imran probably all better bowlers, but Kallis the best batsman amongst them by a fair way.

agree with your praise of kallis

but a curveball for discussion, is gilchrist an allrounder?

if so raises the question if he's better then kallis?

Usman gone. Has the tools, but didn't do enough to push Ponting down the order.

The biggest diference between the two sides is being shown right now. England swinging the ball both ways, as they did in the 2nd innings on a good deck in melbourne. we had 3 new balls in the england innings and I could count on 2 hands the number of balls that swung.

Difficult to bat against this quality of bowling. unfortunately for the Aussies, the english batsmen didn't have to face anything even approaching this.

I wonder what the *smile* Cooley has been teaching our bowlers. and now he is going to be head of the centre of excellence. God help us.

Exactly, the coaches should be getting some scrutiny

Who is our dedicated ball polisher?
Cook does it for the Poms and his efforts seem to give their bowlers an advantage over ours.

I don't think we have one, hence our lack of preparedness and why we don't get as much movement.

Hussey now out and should retire.

I previously said boxing day this series was the worst day of cricket I'd seen from Australia ever but I reckon today might be worse. Pitiful and pathetic is the only way to describe the performance of this team.

All definitely better bowlers but I suspect Kallis would have been a better bowler than he is if he wasn't such a great batsman. Hadlee barely qualifies to me, a very good lower order batsman but never batted above number 8.

An all-rounder to me is someone who bats and bowls, so no. Mark Taylor stood next to Ian Healy all day every day and took 157 catches but it doesn't make him an all-rounder.

Yep, their bowling has been far superior. Tremlett has come from nowhere to be unplayable at times. Very hostile. Unfortunately for us we have three third seamers.

The Jeff Gieschen of Aussie cricket? Promoted despite all evidence of incompetence. Got lucky with the lollies in 05.

Credit to Paul Collingwood (never thought I'd see those two words put together on this site :-) ).
He knows when to call time. Let's hope some of the Australians follow his lead.

Interesting call. He has certainly had a disappointing final two tests.
Can't see both Punter and Mr Cricket surviving this series.
Let alone Hughes & Clarke!

It's gone beyond a battle and deteriorated to an embarrassing flogging.

Well done England. Too good by a long way.

Yeah, anaemic wasn't it. Aussies at their lowest ebb.

i disagree, he had a specialist role in the team for keeping and as a batsmen.
By definition a cricket all-rounder bowls. He’s a specialist (keeper) not an all-rounder.
