It's a good team, probably the perfect team for Australian conditions but I think we will need another spinner in for the world cup in the sub continent as I dont think White, D Hussey and Doherty are strong enough to go into a spin friendly tournament with.
But right now in Australia that team would be awesome.

No love for Ponting?

Reckon you can get ten overs out of Watson/Hodge/Hussey/White/Smith/Hastings combo.

Hodge and Husseys low quick darts on the sub continent would go all right. Even Watson's mixed bag.

Ponting was one of my fav one day players ever to watch but he is a spent force in the shorter games.

So Tait and Lee are opening the bowling ... hmmm.
While I don't necessarily think either of them should be in the Test team, something is decidedly wrong when we seem to have the KIND of bowlers that should be in the Test team (express pace, strike bowlers) in the short form and also the reverse - 3rd seamer containment bowlers that should be in the short form are in the Test team.

Watson is one of our key bowlers IMO, I would expect him to be bowling his ten overs most matches.
Your right about Hodge and Husseys darts being reasonably tidy, and you could definately get ten overs from White and Smith with them, but I would like more quality cover in the conditions they'll be playing in.

Not sure about Ponting, I would like to see him play a few games for Tassie first.

Hahahah. Long way from Burraneer to Hobart. Not going to happen!

Oh well, he'll just have to go to the world cup and win another one, as captain without much preparation.

Regardless of what he does at the WC or the Ashes debacle Punter is still the second best we have ever seen.

At his best and in full flight, his hooks, pulls, cuts and drives off the back foot were a delight.

steve smith is one the worst cricketing selections of all time what a dud of a batsman ordinary bowler and nancy looking fielder !

Picked in desperation far too earlier.

If his career goes on a downward spiral, I will be head-hunting those idiot selectors we have who tried to save their own skins introducing a 'wonderkid'.

Something like that. But our one day young bowlers should be rotated through.

Same with the bats give Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, George Bailey, Shaun Marsh a gig.

Inject some youth. Mix it up.

To be fair Scoop you've mentioned to inject some youth & "get rid of dads army" but if your team were to take the field it would be the oldest team ever assembled. ;D

& far be it for navy to stick up for Clarke but on one-day form he's the last bloke to drop.

Has been one of the best limited overs players in the world in the No 1 ranked team over the past 12 months.

Wasn't it great to see Brett Lee back in Australian colours bowling well last night? :help

Fair dinkum, he must have photos.

Just another mind boggling selection that has no relevance or foresight to the future (or currently for that matter)
