To be fair Scoop you've mentioned to inject some youth & "get rid of dads army" but if your team were to take the field it would be the oldest team ever assembled. ;D

And he has too many Victorians!

Just another mind boggling selection that has no relevance or foresight to the future (or currently for that matter)

They stuffed up the selections for the tests, what made you think it would be any different for the one-dayers?

I shudder to think how he and Tait will go at the world cup. I guess they can only get better......

I’m only a suburban cricketer but I could hit those short wide balls Tait and Lee bowl for boundaries.
Just park cricketers those two.
If you are going to bowl short wide outside off at least put 7 blokes on the off side.

To be fair on the selectors we have a World Cup a month away so blooding players in the shorter forms isnt a priority right now.

Lee has probably been the best fast bowler in the country in domestic one-day cricket this year so on form deserves his place in that regard.

The cupboard is also pretty bare in the bowling ranks with a lot currently out injured. Notably McKay & Harris probably the best 2 one-day bowlers both out of the Cup.

is that fact?
i thought mckay was a chance, and harris hadnt been ruled out yet, tho highly doubtful.

Navy hopefully stands to be corrected but think their both gone for the Cup Brodders

article on criconfo today confirming Mckay is out:

Harris is very unlikely, tho not ruled out yet. the following is the latest on cricinfo, from dec:

Oh no.

Why Oh no.

Poor biased article by a poor biased journo.

Dont think that would ever have seen the light of day if Hussey was back playing for WA.

true.
white hasnt bowled a single delivery in an ODI for over 2.5 years.
clarke bowled 14 overs on 18 ODI in 2010.

has the leading scorer for the last 2 one-day seasons been left out bc he doesnt bowl as well?

What Navy?

Shaun Marsh should be a walkup for the world cup squad.

Marsh is thereabouts no doubt. He's a decent oneday player.

But given he needs to open the batting in one-day matches who does he replace Scoop. Haddin or Watson.

The article also categorically states Australia will not consider anyone who does not bowl outside Ponting & M.Hussey. Um excuse me Cam White & Michael Clarke...

Townsend also makes the comparison that it was playoff between D.Hussey & Marsh. Far be it for navy to stick up for a bushranger but given -

- the spot available is in the middle order - tick Hussey
- Better fieldsman - tick Hussey
- Better player of spin with the world cup due on the sub-continent - Tick Hussey
- Hussey should get through a lot of cheap overs over there - tick Hussey

Townsend doesnt understand that Marsh is not competing against Hussey for a slot it guys like Watson, Haddin, Clarke & Ponting.

We also need to remember our one-day team has been performing extremely well over the past year & more. The guys that have got us to No 1 hardly deserve to be thrown out with a World Cup on the horizon. Especially in the batting that looks very strong. With a couple of automatic selections out the bowling is th worry for navy.
