Navy's would also make some changes that he mentioned just now. What you you lads squad be?
On the bowling side of things l would include Christian,Siddle & Nanes at the expense of Smith,Tait & Lee.

As the best performed slow bowler on the domestic scene for a long while Doherty is very unlucky. Was only just on Sunday but Petersen has his measure.
Do you think the non selection of Doherty was based on one game and the fact that one player possibly has his measure? That would be staggering.

Hussey will be no chance to contribute if he has done a 6 week hammie.

Hastings is a shock to me - while the NSWelshman get a good look in at test level Hodge aside the Vics get a more than reasonable run at the top level in the shorters forms.

On Doherty. Yeah think Sunday might have had a decent say. Why play him the match before the Squads announced if he had no chance of touring JB.. Think if he got on top of the batsman he'd be going. Which does sound staggering but navy also thinks its true. Unfortunately for Xman Petersen has him beat. We'll soon see if he is dropped for the next match.

Yeah the Vics have no cause for complain. Though navy thinks they still will. ;D

Agree with Christian. Dont agree on Siddle who would be cannon fodder more than the others INO.

Nannes is an interesting one. A case could be made for him instead of Tait. Similar sorts who both cant bat nor field but can both be wicket takers.
He might still go when Tait inevitably breaks down.

while im far from convinced about smith as a cricketer i think they needed to pick him as a 2nd spinner.
Whilst i wouldnt like to see Oz relying on him to bowl 10 overs, they needed a backup if Hauritz misses.

dont mind lee in the team. hopefully tait breaks down again, fair chance i reckon.

a pace attack of lee, johnson, bolli and tait is a recipe for disaster, especially on sub-cont pitches.

if hussey misses i would think it would be christian or ferguson who would come in.

l'd rather select someone who is fit & he can prepare for tournament properly instead of last minute call up.

Except Hussey is clearly in our best 3-4 at the moment. I would give him every opportunity to play.

Really MB, think he has a few in front of him yet that arent in the squad.

Let alone who he could replace thats in there.

l guess but he's in good form unlike alot of our bats.

But he has torn a hamstring
... and we have a simple mechansim if he doesn't get up. I'd rather give him a chance then slip him out than leave him out and shake our heads if he gets up

I wouldn't be shaking my head, his form has dropped off & easy to redo hamstring especially if he rushes back.

The world cup doesn't really start until 20 odd of March, when the quarterfinals are on, so that gives some recovery time for Hussey. (The group stage is 4 qualifying from 7 teams which in our group are Aus, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Pakistan, then Kenya, Zimbabwe and Canada.)

We did the same thing last world cup with Symonds and Hayden. Agree that Tait shouldn't be there, would've preferred a more defensive paceman, but as Navy says, McKay and Harris are injured.

I'd of thought Rimmington for Tait was a no brainer.
