On England. Things are going to get a lot tougher in the world cup for Aus than the outfit they are playing against now.
Namely Sri Lanka, South Africa & India who are all clearly superior one-day teams than the Poms.
People have a dig at Australia's captaincy, but Strauss is a truelly horrible oneday skipper who is a mile behind Ponting & Clarke as a skipper in this form of the game. Has absolutely no imagination or ability to think on his feet whatsoever. He's very much from the staid & pre-programmed school of captaincy of past South African skippers Hansie Cronje & Shain Pollock.
An example is yesterday when he had Aus teetering at 4-40. One more wicket, Steve SMiths in & he's a real chance of running straight through his opponent. On a seaming wicket he still brings his spinners on at the same time he does every game rather than keep the pace bowlers on longer than what he normally would have. Horrible thought process.
Another thing, the Aus selectors have made a mountain of mistakes but a couple of decisions by the England selectors with theor one-day outfit are right up there. As Navy said pre-game 2 of their top 3 in the order are simply not good one-day players - Namely Prior & Trott.
How can Davies who was picked in the 1st one-dayer, make a better than a run a ball 42 then be completely left out of the World Cup squad days later - for a prennial one-day failure in Prior no less. Crazy stuff. Also playing Trott in the side who makes Michael Clarke's hitting ability resemble Lance Cairns. Baffling decisions that will greatly haunt their World Cup chances is navy's prediction.
Just some of the reasons they are the No 5 one-day side in the world.
