Na was on Tasmanian cirickets facebooks page that they were unsuccesful in their appeal to have Paine play. Didnt say why.

one can only assume paine is being stopped from playing in fairness to the other states. they all have guys actually playing for australia and therefore missing from their 20/20 teams. paine is the closest thing tassie has to an australian player at the moment so they are ruling him out too.

Hopefully that wasnt the reason Big Cat. Because thats what he's going to face in the world cup.
& the quality of the slow bowling he is going to be far higher than Collingwood, Yardy & Trott.
He just needs that bit more urgency about him to turn the strike over when frst in. His Bushrangers teammate David Hussey is an example of a player he could learn off in this facet of the game.

Good points Navy. White needs urgency in many facets, he sort of has a strut/attitude without really having achieved anything in international cricket. I think he's pretty comfortable with himself, probably made and making plenty of money in 20/20 that striving for a Test spot and real recognition is not his first priority. Can't really blame him, 20/20 is paying the bills.

looks like tassie are home against WA 2nds.

Correct, an easy win by the Tasmania 3rds tonight to get the chocolates. Captain George Bailey leads from the front as he normally does when his side needs him.
Australian honours really should beckon for him. Should be ahead of Ferguson as next cab off the rank in the one-day side. Totally up for international cricket.

& Sorry all, have to apoligise for the boredom on this thread of late.

The monotony of winners for the followers must be getting a little tedious for those not on. But hey, the law of averages says we have to back a loser sooner or later. Whether it will be this decade or not is the question. Hang in there until then. Or better still - be a follower.

Its an interesting point isnt it. Not sure White is like that. But the money is certainly extreme enough for players to change priorities. i.e Dan Christian 900K for 2 months of 20 over cricket a year when he has no international pedigree is obscene isnt it.

Maybe it is just a case of the IPL being better judges of talent than the current Australian selectors?

Yes, and could ultimately be the ruination of the sport.

WA are a poor team even with Marsh in MB.

Havent beaten Tasmania in any form of the game anywhere for over 2 seasons now.

And their record against other states probably isn't great either.

Na wouldnt be. They havent got close to even making a domestic final in any of the grades in a long long time now.

Not as if they have a heap players away on international duty either.

The WA coaching job has ruined many a career.

So what sort of difference is Arthur making?

Not much thus far.

He did well at Sth Africa & talks very well. But when so many well regarded coaches revolve through the door the whole structure of cricket over there must be very poor.

Major lack of talent coming through in WA over the past decade.

Playing Mick Lewis is an example. Why not play kids like NSW have. Its not like a youngsters going to be any worse than Lewis' effort last night of 3 overs 0-46 for example.

That is weird isn't it? He was playing subbies for Coburg and all of a sudden he is back in the big time. :headscratch

I laughed when I read Darren Berry's article about how well that move was going for WA, reckons Hoggy had a bit to do with him getting a gig there. Laughable not giving youth a go.
