Nice list. ;D

& to think in just 30 years in the shield little Tas have already produced 2 cricketers that have scored more runs than anyone from Victoria. Ever.

Thank god indeed.

tassie captains have prob lost more ashes series than vics too, or any other state. ever. ;D

Prob not actually Brodders.

Billy Murdoch lost 6 ashes series as captain. Where was he born - Bendigo. ;D

I assume you're now talking test runs so yes, it's true, well done to Tassie.

Now, let's discuss the bowlers .....In 30 little years they've produced Hilfy (55), Krejza (13), Campbell (10), Miller (69 all up, not sure how many for Tas), Ponting (5),Young (0) and Doherty (3) who have taken approx 150 wickets between them...less than not just Warnie but you're old mate Merv!

Geez, talk about clutching at straws! Murdoch moved to NSW at aged 6! He was a proud New south welshman!

& just imagine how good he could have been without being tarnished in those early years.

Would have thought with the masses of extra players available the above would be a minimum. Unfortunately this is the only discipline where it holds true.

Perhaps Victorian batting has been in a Richmondesque slump, during which time a lot more cricket has been played. Surely navy is not suggesting Boon was a superior player to Neil Harvey? Roughly equal to Bill Lawry I'd say. One could also suggest players like Dean Jones, Jamie Siddons and Matthew Elliott were unlucky not to play a lot more test cricket (or any in Siddons' case). And it is an undeniable fact that no other state has produced someone of the ilk of Keith Miller, meaning Victoria has produced two of Australia's three greatest cricketers.

Well with that logic we could only imagine how good Huddo, Hart, Roach, Gale, Baldock etc would have been if they didn't grow up in the backward state. Or how much better a bloke you might be? ;D

Fair enough Leysy, seeing as you hate being a Victorian give me your email address and I'll pass on a free 1 way ticket for the Spirit of Tassie so you can feel at home again. :P

1. Bradman (NSW)
2. Warne (Vic)
3. Miller (Vic)
4. Lillee (WA)
5. McGrath (NSW)
6. Border (NSW)
7. Ponting (Tas)
8. O'Reilly (NSW)
9. S.Waugh (NSW)
10. G.Chappell (SA)

A rough, subjective, totally up for debate and change of mind/mood top 10, off the top of my head. The first seven are pretty much set in stone in my mind, but plenty could fill the last three spots. I could easily swap Lillee and Miller, maybe McGrath, which would mean Victoria has only produced two of Australia's best four-five cricketers. But Miller was a killer with the new ball, a super batsman and fielder, played football for Victoria and could handle a Messerschmidt up his arse, so he gets my vote.

The Meschersmidt line was revealed later to be a joke.

My post was supposed to be in humour, but your list makes interesting reading.

I don't see Miller as being top 3. I'd have him about 8. I would have O'Reilly ahead of him. But it is a strong list in terms of the fact I can't see anyone who shouldn't be there at the expense of someone else. Maybe Trumper in at 10 ahead of Chappell? but that would be a big call given the amount of test cricket each played. Trumper is clearly talked about in terms of lost potential.

My old man reckons Neil Harvey is the best cricketer he has seen.
