Also navy would like to wrap up a young keeper from the North West Coast of Tasmania on debut, Tom Triffitt. Was behind the wickets in Tasmania's under 19 World Cup win that contained Hughes, Hill, Hazlewood, Smith & Marsh.

Australia's U19 World Cup win?

Triffit is very promosiing from what I have heard, although I didn't actually know that is what his name was. Had heard that Tassie had an outstanding young keeper coming through, so assume it must be him.

With Paine around, do you think one of them will have to move interstate? Guess it depends on whether Paine gets the Australian job in all forms of the game sooner rather than later.

Yeah that would be him for sure Streaker.

Not sure if he will have to move to an easier interstate team to get a game like Wade had to. Reckon if he bides his time for 12 months he will be able to play near full-time as Paine should be pretty firmly embedded in all forms for Aus by then thus rarely featuring for Tas.

Because of timing should get plenty of opportunities in the next few years if he stays.

Fair enough MLD,

The next edition of the PRE grudge match resumes tomorrow when table leaders Tasmania host 2nd placed Victoria at Bellerive.

Both teams well understrength, with Tasmania's depth understandably weaker than Victoria. That's balanced out by Tasmania having the wood on Victoria in recent times. Should be a good match with the winner likely to host the final.

Should be a good game, so who's Navys tip or need I not ask? Vics for mine.

Tas have relied a lot on dual spinners Doherty & to a lesser extent Krejza for their outstanding success in one-day cricket. Be a test to see how they go about things without them.

But Tassie have forgotten how to get beat against the Vics so would have to tip the home team.

"remain relevant"? There was nothing wrong with it four years ago.

Average crowd for local T20 matches was 14K, not that far behind one-day internationals at 25K. The mob has spoken.

Reckon the T20 will run its course eventually, but CA is obviously making a financial decision in following the trend.

Tas have the advantage at the half way mark to keep their winning run going against the Vics

2-80 at the break Vs Victoria's 4-60.

On a slow low pitch Hodge bats in the middle order for the first time this year & shock of all horrors he fails.

Think he has been failing from all positions recently.

Great work from the Wegians. Awesome comeback, We were 2 - 7, we are now 2 - 183 with ten overs remaining. Cozzie is 102 no from 98 balls and bailey 77 no from 91 balls. Lots of pressure on Wade to make a big score after he made just 31 from 62 balls and four of his team mates back in the shed. GO TASSIE!

im a little confused.
tassie had vic at 8 for 192. chasing 258. with just 7 overs remaining. and they lost?

wow.

must be a little concerning after their poor performance in the 20/20 semi final.

Take away any teams two best bowlers in one-day games and see what happens Brodders! Tassie didn't finish well so well done the vics. Devastating knock by Maxwell, 61 off 27 balls, quickest fifty in domestic one-day history. Well done young fella.

Well done to the Vics on an epic win. Came from the clouds.

Looked gone until an inspired knock from Maxwell who seems to have pottered around for a good while without producing. Then comes up with the fastest 50 ever in domestic cricket. :o

Was poor bowling at the end by Hilfy who the summer cant end quickly enough for. Is totally shot ATM. Bailey would have killed for Doherty to be there to finish things off like he always does for Tas.

Speaking of Bailey what an innings again. Is simply an international player.

i think hodge will retire after leading the vics to one-day victory. will prob keep playing 20/20 tho.

his form since being overlooked for the world cup has been average.

I reckon you are right. His form has certainly gone downhill....the fire in the belly can only burn for so long.

Am cursing myself that I didn't watch the game last night....kept flicking over and thought it was done and dusted so didn't see the end.

Maxwell's innings must have been something to watch.
