On Clarke opening , I reckon it depends on who we are playing . He seems to be in good form again and with all the spinners playing in this World cup we need him in the middle order playing the spinners in the middle overs. Whatever we think of Clarke , he is a very good player of spin bowling when in form as he works the ball around and picks off ones and twos.

His technique against spin compared to White as an example is like night and day. White tends to prod at the ball , Clarkey finds gaps .
I don't mind the idea of Clarke opening with Watson. The key is to set a decent platform to allow the guys in the middle over the 'luxury' of 2-3 overs to nudge the ball around rather than being under the hammer b/c one of the openers made 29 of 60.

We need to be flexible. If we're 1-65 after 15, send in Mitch/Lee to try and hit 25 from 18 to get us back on track. If 1-85 of 15 (or 1/15 off 3), Ponting to make a measured start.

White may be in trouble b/c what little I have seen of Ferguson suggests an ability to work the ball early, something we all agree that White is struggling to do.

Butterworth has backed you up again Bigwow. Followed up his 6 wickets with thus far 91 not out the following day.

& Netherlands look like setting England a more than competitive score on tonights World Cup match. Really shows how far off the pace the Poms are.

Cosgrove batted well again also. The infatuation with Shane Watson Adonis types is killing this bloke who is a pure cricketer. he bowls handy offies as well. Warwick Armstrong, Boonie & Merv were all plus size, and played good test cricket....

.
That's a bit harsh on Boonie and Merv I reckon . Cosgrove is the same size as they are now , not when they were playing . He is huge.

This guy just doesn't want it enough . If he did he would get fitter . Pity because he is a class player .

When talking huge, Dwayne Leverock from Bermuda takes the cake (or eats it I guess)...

If anyone hasn't seen this, David Lloyd's commentary when he takes this screamer is priceless.

Was it because of this 159. ;D

A win is a win. 1 more to go.
Hodgey is trying a new tactic in recent times to get picked for Australia , not making any runs ! Making shedloads didn't seem to work .

The Vics need a contribution from him to win this one I reckon

Hodge is near the end with the Vics, maybe 1 more season

Here is hoping he has at least one good innings left in him and can make a big score in the final on Sunday.

Wouldnt hold your breath if Hodge's average of 15 during Victoria's run of one-day final defeats are anything to go by.

Although surely the law of averages says you can't lose 5 in a row...

Tait is horrible, why does this guy get gifted matches every game. 9 off his dirt over and so far off three balls he's gone for ten.

Of course as I say that he takes a wicket. He is still a mentally weak dud.

4 overs, 3/25. I think Tait is our left field selection. If he doesn't know where its going, how the hell is the batsman supposed to know. Once you get used to the fact that he won't go for 40 off 10 overs, but is likely to get wickets, he's a bit less difficult to watch.

he's got 3 now.
he will go for runs, the question will be will take wickets when it matters, in the big games, against the good teams, when others are struggling.
