Agree with that.

No point taking someone to give more depth than we already have.

May as well be someone who could come into the 11 without injury forcing it. i.e Hussey or the spinners role where Krejza hasnt cemented his spot.

Agree McKay would be there, as would Harris both in Hastings spot at a minimum.
Forgot about Harris . Probably would have been one of the first picked .

Go the Irish. Great effort to put the Poms back in their box. Now for the swabs and the betting investigations. :hihi

great effort by the irish indeed.
the poms are havin a funny WC. scrape past the dutch, tie with india chasing a massive target then fall to the irish.

i still think they are doing the right thing limiting the numbers for future world cups.

The Poms' Bowling and fielding has been poor. conceded 290 odd to the Netherlands, 330 to India and now 320 odd to Ireland.

I head this morning that Jimmy Anderson has conceded over 200 runs off about 20 overs for the series.

:hihi

Gold that L of 80. Used it plenty already. ;D

It is a shame when the first thing people think about when an upset occurs is corruption. Damn shame.

But onto more pertinant matters.

By miles the 2 best first class teams in the country met to decide who would host the shield final.

Ended up one of the more one-sided first days imaginable as Tasmania totally destroyed NSW. Rolling them for 74 & finishing 2-200 odd at stumps to all but seal a shield final.

In a weird stat paceman Trent Copeland opened the bowling for NSW & proceeded to roll down 25 overs in his opening spell. :o

Tas are now staring at 4 outright wins on the bounce & in the box seat for title honours for the 2nd time in the past few seasons in the shield.

copeland bowled a similar spell in nsw's last game. hope they dont work him into the ground.

the unbroken 10th wicket partnership for the vics has scored more runs than nsw.

good luck to tassie in the final. judging by their 2 efforts so far this year they'll need it. thrashed in the 20/20 prelim, thrashed in the one day final. 3rd time lucky?

This is PRECISELY why corruption is such a bad thing and Adam Gilchrist is right about life bans, etc. It's not simply the fact that it happens, it's the subsequent impact. You could even argue now that it ridicules having the minnows in the World Cup because even if they do have a good game the microscope will come down hard.

The yanks got this one right. Google Pete Rose or Black Sox Scandal.

Sheesh ... can't be too many instances in first class cricket of a bloke getting a hundred on the first day when his team hasn't even batted first.

Whilst Clark & Katich will stiffen the NSW team immeasurably Tasmania invariably win a quality trophy every season in recent years. Interesting you write them off this year Brodders.

certainly not writing them off nasy. i just hope they dont succumb to the pressure like they have in their big games. it must be on their minds, and on the minds of their supporters.

Tassie surely have sealed the shield title after todays excellent display, they clearly have the wood over NSW.

no, nazy, i just hope they can put up a good effort. another thrashing would give ammo for those wanting to get rid of the shield final.

Fully agree.

Hopefully NSW with Katich, Clark & Warner back in can provide that good effort.
