Not sure your statement holds much water L&D.

and he's tasmanian!

undoubtedly ponting has had a great career to look back on. the time to start that looking back should prob come soon.
i think if he doesnt get at least one decent score in the remaining world cup games, his one day career, at the least, should come to an end.

Has had a glittering career no doubt. Particularly as a batsman.
I don't share L&Ds view that he's been bad for Australian cricket. Far from it.
In saying that, it's time.

Unfortunately the Ricky Ponting we have seen in the past 6 months or so does not compare to the Ricky Ponting that has been Australia's greatest ever ODI batsman and our best test batsman since Bradman. Age catches up with us all eventually and I reckon it has Ricky by the balls at the moment and it's grip is tightening

Not sure your statement holds much water L&D.

You didn't include how many time he captained a losing Ashes series or how many test series he won in India. ;D

Ponting is arguably the second greatest batsman to ever play for Australia, but a sh!te captain. Given what he had at his disposal, losing the last two Ashes series was in themselves no great crime.

But losing three Tests by an innings in 2010-11 AT HOME, is surely a disgrace that ranks with the worst of all time. And losing in 2005 with the side he had was simply unacceptable. Yes, we were stiff in that series and a close analysis of the events reveals that we were arguably the better side. But still, it should never have been that close with the team he had.

Not only his tactical ability as a captain, but his behaviour has at times been embarrassing.

In hindsight he should never have been made captain.

Great and deserved win to Tassie for their 2nd shield win in 5 seasons. But as has been pointed out previously is domestic cricket about winning titles or producing Australian players? Victoria have been critisized on here for winning titles but not producing enough quality Australian players.

Tassies output over the last few years has produced Tim Paine, Brett Geeves, Hilfy, Xavier "Never to be seen again" Doherty and Jason "Bradbury" Krazja. Two failed spinners and and swinger who isnt currently in the one day squad and wasn't in out last test teams and Paine making spasmodic appearances. Geeves has 2 ODI's, last one in 2008.

Hardly a stellar list.

How is that sour grapes? Ive said for a for a few weeks Tassie were monties to win and Ive congratulated them in my last post!

Of course you may be trying to deflect from the fact that Tassie hasnt produced any quality National players and you've critiscized Victoria for not doing so in the past.

At the risk of Tim choking on said grapes, from the Tasmanian changerooms tonight -

Keep avoiding the topic old boy, I guess that's what happens when one opinionates so much, they're bound to trip over their own opinions. ::)

Still deflecting Leysy? I understand. With a sad roll call of Krezja, Doherty, Geeves etc I'd be avoiding the topic too.
