You're bias and ignorance knows no bounds. Bloke gets a 100 in a WC qtr final and he was "well out of touch"? You know your stuff.

Shame you have to play the man. Ponting had one good knock for the entire 35 days over there. In that knock it was evident that he was having trouble getting the ball off the square. The fact that he resorted to his first (and last) ever reverse sweep, probably reflects his frustration with proceedings.

The 6 over cover was quite nice. That sort of shot requires good footwork and timing.

Have to agree to disagree, you have stated your dislike for Ricky and his style, reckon you're in the moniority with that opinion

Given the L&D believes that in Pontings near run a ball century he was "out of touch" & "couldnt hit it off the square" what his appraisal of Cameron Whites & his middle order colleages performance(s) will be. You would think it would be scathing in view of the above.

Shouldn't really compare the two. Both should be gone for individual reasons.

Pretty disappointing cricketer White is turning out to be.

Has two gears White...either smashes em or can't get it off the square. Nothing in between. Wasn't long ago he was touted as the next ODI captain. Now will be lucky to retain his spot. Was the biggest disappointment of the world cup for mine.

I don't think White should be judged so harshly on this campaign. He certainly didn't show much, but many of our other players didn't exactly show much form either.

im a white fan but he should be judged harshly streaker. the wickets were generally flat batting paradises and he struggled and looked in very ordinary form. he really had to grind an ugly 40-50 to try and get some form but managed only 70 runs for the tourny from 7 matches and 7 innings with red ink twice including a HS of 22* which flatters his avg of 17.5. how he was not dropped is a bit of a mystery. dave hussey (bowling and batting) should have come in for white. when dave huss eventually was picked i would have even gone with smith in front of white who he had a lower batting and bowling avg. a very very poor tournament and his form in the domestic odi series was just as bad.

I'm not disagreeing that he didn't perform, the stats don't lie.

He was clearly out of form and should have been dropped for sure.

But I got the feeling a few on here were writing him off, which I thin would be a mistake on the basis of this one campaign.

I did learn something about White in the campaign. He lacks the flexibility to adapt to sub-continent conditions. He especially struggled when the ball did not come on to the bat.

This is not so much White's fault. What is surprising, is the fact that the selectors got so much wrong with the squad design. I hope that they are called to account.

Let's hope the selectors are held accountable. Cox and Boon in particular have seemed to escape scrutiny as to their roles in the selection mistakes.

White's a slogger with a good eye but poor footwork, as is Steve Smith. Neither will ever play spin well. Too many players coming through seem to have poor footwork/techniques.

His record in India prior to the World Cup actually wasn't too bad. Just prior to the Australian summer in an ODI over there he made close to 100 off about 50 balls, while on a previous tour he handled himself well.

I think the bowlers have probably worked out how to bowl to him now.

Wow.‎ 185 (96) including 15 6's and 15 4's. Doesn't really matter who it was against, that was sick! With 24 overs to spare and making 185 out of the team score of 232 says it all.

"I think if you tell Watson to play this sort of an innings tomorrow, he won't be able to do it. It was his day and if you have noticed it closely, I think seven of his sixes were mishits."
