Basically they just don't like each other Brodders & it has been that way for some time, Tasmania are basically the one team that hasnt been intimidated by Victoria & has stood up to them in recent years & neither side backs away from confrontation, have been told the sledging between the two sides has been out of control for some years. Anyway the main incident from this match is described here after the 3rd days play -

& further after the last day here

Hoping Cummins gets a gig.

Mitch Marsh, and Maddinson are the 2 kids im hoping to really step it up this season and push for a top line gig.

Paine needs to get fit and replace Haddin.

It be good to push Maddinson ahead of Hughes especially if he fails gainst the Saffies, and Mitch Marsh to replace Ponting when the curtain comes down on the Punter.

Others such as Starc will be interesting to watch, and hopefully also come on to provide some real new energy and ptency to the Aussie fast bowling stocks

Fair bit of whinging from the Taswegians there. I wonder if Bailey was simply really angry at himself from dropping 3 catches including a pivotal soda.

so tasweigans have an inferiority complex just like our mates from SA? :hihi

On exposed first class form this year, Simon Katich could be recalled as Australia's first choice spinner. 8 wickets @ 16.5 this season.

Just on Jones, if you are referring to his catch spooker, whilst Hussey was completely out of line yesterday this goes well beyond just that one incident.
I was referring to the catch, which I haven't seen, hence was only joking. But Hussey was well within his rights to stand his ground. It's possible he and Jones were both convinced they were right, in which case the umpire gets to do the job he's paid for.

How's The Mercury's whinging? "Tigers' umpire torment"; "a trigger-happy umpire fired out the home team's hopes". Puh-lease. (How can a man with two heads be so one-eyed?)

Very much looking forward to the South Africa series. Kallis made the excellent point that if they'd only played one T20 and not spaced out the ODIs so much there'd be ample time for a third Test. Bloody ridiculous.

Shame the Windies folded after giving the Indians a fair dose of curry. Still in it but need to bowl well. Fast bouncy pitches and we should donkey-lick India this summer.

Great call on Maddinson Craig.

Leysy's said for a while he's a far better prospect than Hughes. A good summer & he'll be in the test team before long.

Marsh whilst an exciting talent has a long way to go in the longer forms, a lot better player in the short formats at present.

Bailey dropped the pivotal catch after the Hussey incident.

Now that is funny coming from a Vic.

This is the same state that takes 20 years to get over Dean Jones & then Hodges dropping right? :yawn

It was all those damn NSW's selectors fault though yeah. :hihi

You need to remember this is not international cricket. There are no replays to judge if a player takes a catch or not.

If a batsman doesnt take the fielders word the umpire can rarely give it out. It happens to quick. Without replays most will do the right & honourable thing & take the fielders word. The fielder knows when he takes it clean 9 times out of 10. Actually more than that.

Just on that as well. The reason Bailey blew up is because if you asked most Tasmanian players there thoughts on Hussey they think he is a cheating *smile* & have done for years. Get snaps truly to give his mate Brett Geeves views on Hussey.

They would be laughing with the biggest grain of salt they could find at his comments that he saw the ball bounce.

Anyway makes for a nice return bout in the 2 replays in a few weeks.

Yeah they just needed another 100.

Can definately still win if they get Sehwag quickly.

Looks like they are fortunate to be as far in front as they are...a couple of late order partnerships added some respectibility.

The Indians folded in the first innings after a good opening stand, but there were some pretty ordinary shots played...would expct them to bat with more caution this time around.

Hmmmm, laughing with a grain of salt eh. Interesting. And perhaps we should get Hussey's view on Geeves to balance things out.

Not sure why you are so antsy. A Tasmanian won the game for them anyway!

when deano was dropped for the 92-93 series against the west indies, australia had just returned home from a tour of the sri lanka where deano had topped the aussie batting averages. every man and his dog knows that deano (like katich) was dropped for having a big mouth and saying it like it is. he wasn't dropped for being out of form.

hodge got dropped 2 matches after a double century... which is a disgrace after the million chances many other players received over the andrew hildich years.

What batsman would have walked in that instance? Crazy talk Leysy and you know it. The umpires generally have a pretty good idea, if they couldn't call it you'd say the right decision was made.

The way Dravids batting the past couple of years he might catch him. :D

Things must have changed since leysy played Big Cat. If the catcher is absolutely unequivacal with zero doubt whatsoever that he caught it & assures the batsman & umpires like here then the batsman can expect some flak if he stays.

Cant agree with you that umpires have a pretty good idea on low catches, very very hard for them to tell. Just look at when they have the replays to call on. They go to them everytime.

Now Hussey says he saw it bounce. The Tasmanian players dont believe that for a second considering there opinion of him, especially Bailey who's never had a run in with anyone ever. They think he's lying to save his wicket at a crucial stage. Hence the blowup. Just fuels a nice rivalry for the future for us followers.

Whats the thoughts on the upcoming test match against SA. The two teams will likely be -

Smith
Rudolph
Amla
Kallis
De Villers
Prince
Boucher
Philander
Morkel
Steyn
Tahir
Duminy 12th

Aus

Watson
Hughes
Marsh
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
Johnson
Harris
Siddle/Copeland
Lyon

Good test for Aus after beating Sri Lanka away.
