Cricket

One out all out with these jokers.

No matter how dominant out position may seem, we are always one wicket away from surrendering the advantage.

And the opposotion know it too... Put the Aussies under pressure and they will fold.

What a pathetic performance...surrendered the advantage and now we are all square. Same as first test.

Isn't Tom Cooper a Dutchman, he's played one day internationals for the Netherlands, due to his mothers Dutch passport.

I play with his younger brother Ben up here for the mighty Tracy Village in the Darwin league. Their Mum was born in the Netherlands so is lucky enough to have duel citisenship. As Aussie as you'll get. Look out for Ben on the soon to be aired cricket reality TV show, hits some massive sixes does this young man.

I think you're allowed to represent two countries if one is a full member of the ICC and the other is only an associate or affiliate member.

Dirk Nannes f.e. has represented both Australia & The Netherlands.

Rodney Hogg - Border played 156 tests, his last in South Africa. Ricky is playing his 156th test at the moment in South Africa!!!!!!!

Nicw work ToOts .............. Punter shouldve gone when he lost the captaincy.

$$$ in cricket too much to walk away from probably also the fact he hasnt known anything else from his teens.

Understandable but they all have trouble letting go i mean who wouldnt want to travel the world and get paid a shitload to play cricket.

Agree. That he didn't retire I think he should have been tapped on the shoulder craigo.
Was a ridiculous call to send him to Sri Lanka after the Ashes debacle when the side should have immediately clicked into rebuild mode.
It's backfired now and no one takes any joy seeing an aged former champ struggle in a poor cricket side.

Cummins the pick of the bowlers to date. Very impressive.

Match evenly balanced at the moment, but I reckon we wouldn't want to be chasing much more than 200.

- Watson is an opener. Full stop. Have said this for a long time but Dont think leysy has seen many techniques/mindsets more suited to the opening role compared to middle order in his days watching/playing/coaching. Leysy is fully predicting a drop off if & when he drops down the order.

Agree. If he couldn't bowl he would have opened from day dot.

Hmmm!

And 40 years ago, Bill Lawry was sacked as Australian Captain for what might pan out to be a similar series as this.

Of course, Bill Lawry's team faced an opposition that included Barry Richards, Trevor Goddard, Ali Bacher, Graeme Pollock, Eddie Barlow, Lee Irvine, Denis Lindsay, Mike Proctor & Peter Pollock, amongst others.

Apart from Smith, Amla, Kallis, Steyn & Morkel, this SA team seems far less imposing.

Actually, it would make a great newspaper article to compare the talents of the 1969-70 SA & Aust teams versus the current bunch.

Come to think of it - we should probably keep Ponting for India seeing as there won't be any DRS. ;D

Mind you the umpires - especially Showboat Billy - will probably just start assuming he's out now. :help

I've run out of ecuses for Ponting.
He's playing across the line and whereas 10 years ago his eye and reflexes were good enough to get away with it; now he can't.
Unfortunately his pride is getting in the way of adjusting his game to his limitatiions.
Greg Chappell's "playing in the V" springs to mind as an approach he should've adopted a couple of years ago.

They're hardly going to sack Clarke after two test series -one of which he actually won. I think all the other senior players should go though. Ponting, Hussey, Johnson & Haddin -even Watson if he can't stay fit. It's said Clarke is popular with the younger players. Let him re-build totally with youth.

Also hope we start picking the likes of Pattison, Starc, Hazlewood & Cutting over Siddle, Harris, Bollinger & Hilfenhack. Reckon O'Keefe has value as an all-rounder too. Took wickets at the spinner unfriendly Gabba during the week and then almost single-handedly hit NSW to within a bees' *smile* of an unlikely victory on a moving deck against the form attack in the country.

At the risk of talking up one of his fellow Taswegians leysy's amazed how Luke Butterworth doesnt get a look in nor is even mentioned.

How he didnt make the Aus A team is incredible. Whilst his 3 state compatriots are all deserving he should have been in ahead of all of them ILO.

Has been the single best shield bowler for well over a year now as well as a more than handy batsman.

& yes James Pattison should be fast-tracked in ahead of Siddle/Johnson.
