Is it compulsory to go off for the light, I thought it was offerred to the batsman and if they wanted to play on they did

I think that the umpires can intervene if they feel the conditions are too dangerous regardless of what the batsmen want to do.

BigCat - Think there's some *smile*ed up rule that says if the players have accepted bad light at a certain reading already in the test then they have to go off if it hits that reading again.

Would be a tragedy to apply it if the match is in the balance eg Aussies 9 for and only a few runs to get

Wish I had foxtel

Bowden is past his use by date these days. Used to be fun, now overdone.

Bowden's been crap from day one of his international career. Shocking umpire. Kiwi umpires have always been useless.

More like Clarke's pretty average captaincy for the last 20 overs of the SA innings.

Yeah same thing. That and the stupid "umpires call" rule on balls clipping the stumps that saved Tahir.

BTW is anybody else listening to the ABC Grandstand coverage? First time I've heard Fannie De V commentate and was impressed with him.

Agree Big Cat. Fannie calls the game well. Very insightful. Hopefully he doesn't go near any hotel windows any time soon.

Morkel looks the most likely of their bowlers at the moment, but might be getting a little rattled.

Has words with MJ, then next ball gets smashed straight back past him for 4.

55 needed now.

Saf's starting to look desperate and making mistakes in the field. Mitchell starting to look more confidant..make that Haddin too, what a shot! New ball to decide the test it looks like
