What a 2 test series. Drama from start to finish. 1-1 A fitting scoreline.

Had the makings of one the greats of all time if it was longer. But alas. :(

2 against SA

2 against NZ

4 against India

What happened to odd numbers for a decider?

Johnson the matchwinner. At tea we were going down; Johnson played his shots and the positivity rubbed off on Haddin.

Worth staying up for and going to work wrecked again.

Agree, the joy on that kids face was worth every bit, he won't get his feet on the ground till he hits Sydney. How good would it be to be in that dressing room right now?

Managed to get a live stream for the last 4 overs sensational to watch

At least Patto will be a shining light in the series against NZ and India. Something to look forward to.

He should bat at 8th.

The selectors need to be mindful with Cummins.

For goodness sake don't over work him and bowl him into an injury.

He is only young, and there is a reason young quicks do not debut this early in the 5 day game.

That's why it's important other bowlers pull their weight and we don't keep picking injury prone blokes as key bowlers. Harris can't string together two tests in a row (and is ordinary anyway) and you just can't pick an attack with the assumption Watson will get through a decent share of the bowling workload. Johnson's a liability and too costly to keep on for lengthy spells. Siddle's a workhorse but his lack of real penetration cancels that out.

One of the unfortunate things is that this result may lead to Johnson and Haddin being retained. Hopefully the new selectors can look at results over a period of time and not 1 test but I'm not hopeful.

I'm just going enjoy this win for a few days. We showed lot's of grit to win this one. Well done to all involved.

Went to bed after Punter went out. Thought it was all over and was dog tired. Missed one of the great run chases unfortunately.

What a great performance, particularly coming on the heels of all out for 47. Our undefeated series record in South Africa since readmission remains in tact.

What a great way for Haddin and Johnson to round out their careers in the baggy green. ;D

Well done to the Australians on a gutsy win, especiaaly Mitchell Johnson with what looked like a foot/leg injury.

Amazing how carrying an injury makes one focus stronger.

Test cricket certainly beats the shorter forms of the game for intensity.

On another note, watched a brilliant cricket DVD, Fire in Babylon.

It is the inside story of what turned the West Indies from entertaining but regular losers into the most feared cricketing teams ever.

Much of the change was above the shoulders. "Us v them", type thing.
Certainly an enlightening story.

Does Mike Haysman remind anyone else here of Les Murray?

Is that the same Haysman who played Shield cricket for Sth Aust in the late 70s / early 80s?
