No, just finding it a little bit harder making the transition from junior to senior cricket.

Plenty have over the years.

I remember, many years ago, a RichmondCC boy, Geoff Parker, was the Australian U19 captain. Top order, BIG run maker in junior cricket. Struggled to make runs at senior level.
Happens.
Remember him popping up a couple of years later playing Twos footy for Sth Melb / Sydney.

Brad Green, Prahran, was another.

On another note, Australia v The World 1972, on Fox3HD at the moment.

Parker made a couple of 100's and averaged about 30 in 30 odd games for Vic and SA. He played a few senior games for Essendon and is now head of recruiting at Port.

Played footy with, and cricket against Geoff. Unbelievable junior talent. Was playing sub-district ones for Croydon(?) at maybe 15 or 16; Malcolm Marshall was finding him a nuisance and decided to bounce him. Out of the ground it went.

He'd dominate footy games so much that opposition coaches would approach our coach at quarter time, demanding to see his birth certificate. It wasn't that he was much taller than other kids, but he was powerful for his age. Never developed all that much physically later on - average height without being super-quick.

Yeah Parker could bat. Did ok for SA. Warren Ayres was another superb talent cast aside early by Vic selectors. My old man has spent decades involved at district level and swore black and blue that after Hodge Ayres was the best batsman in the state, even into his 40s. Yet comparative hacks like Shawn Craig got picked instead.

Lyon looks good to me (for an off-spinner).

No wonder the Tasweigans are struggling - only four of them are actually from Tassie!

Yes, that's right, He did kick on a bit when he went to SA.

Quite a few Vics like that.

BTW Bird just knocked Hussey over.

Tas wouldnt like that much. Good chance when Triffit took it high to his right they asked Hussey if it carried :hihi

I agree. He doesn't seem scared to keep throwing the ball up and looks for wickets. Not saying he will be a world beater, but I reckon at this stage he is worth perservering with.

Youve never seen a man more happy in retirement than leysy spook.

BTW anyone who ever wants to have a look at the shield all matches are streamed live here.

No commentary but you can almost hear the sledging with the sound up. :hihi

The over rated vic's bowled out for 94! go the wegians, send em back in!

I assume Cameron White must have come back in for this game then. Terribly disappointing cricketer.

Well this side of rejects, nomads, thieves & rapists have knocked over the Vics for 94 eh.

Regardless of the result of this match if there is one thing this era of Tasmanian cricket does is setup a culture & environment for every player to perform at their best. There are very few underperforming players in the Tasmanian system.

How Tim Coyle is never mentioned for higher coaching honours is one of the great mysteries. Not complaining as its Tasmania's gain.

Sounds like Ponting should have actually spent some time in Tassie over the last 18 months then.

More Australian players should be playing for there states, Yes.

The Argus review recommended this as well.
