Bad day for Victorian cricket, about to go down to what looks like a Tassie 2 XI! Shame!

The Vics have really fallen away in 4 day cricket over the past 12 months or so.

Vics shocking.

Time for some blokes to pull their finger out. Starting with our captain.

It is a Tassie second XI.

One of the best wins (& there have been plenty) Tassie have had for years.

Not giving up the title without a fight.

Watson, Marsh, Cummins, Johnson, Harris all ruled out of the first test.

One batsman to come in, to either open or bat at 3. Probably Warner.

Who for Cummins & Johnson.

Likely Pattison & Copeland. Cutting & Hilf both some chance.

I almost forgot about Copeland. We are going to have a very young bowling lineup...Siddle the only one with more than a few tests experience, and if there weren't injuries his head would probably be on the block.

Will be no walk in the park against the Kiwis, who will think they are a chance.

Yeah Siddle will play by default.

Kiwis have a decent outfit, especially batting wise. Wont be easy at all.

Watched some of the Tas Vic game online. Some random obs for who cares -

Jackson Bird a lazy 10 wickets in his second game. Looks a find.

Only 24 & whilst not quick has great control, gets excellent movement off the seam & importantly bowls from a big height (dont underrate this).
We'll be hearing plenty more of him.

Handscombe whilst failing here is very easy on the eye to watch, Good future.

Tom Triffitt continues the production line of gun young keeper/batsmen from the state. Kid will be a star.

Rogers is an excellent excellent player. Could easily have played at a higher level. Feel a bit for guys like him & Ed Cowan. They have really solid techniques, show great patience, & both value there wicket very dearly. Leysy rates them as far better batsmen than some of the 20/20 sloggers who do nothing in the real test of first-class cricket.

Yet there wage is small in comparison to 20/20 specialists as they dont play that less talented form of the game where Cricket Australia put the money into. Wrong priorities CA. Totally wrong.

I'd hate to see what the Tassie Futures league side looks like then. They must have 12 yr olds playing.

Warner belting the kiwis all over the park for Aussie A , 56 off 65 . Will definitely debut .

He has been in very good form for a while now .

It's Tests like the one currently going on in Mumbai that crucify the sport and they must get rid of them as a priority. Tea on the 4th day and the first innings is not over yet, and I don't think they've lost a minute to bad weather.

Big yep from leysy. Currently 141 not out.

Imagine Warner & Hughes opening together against England bowling attack over there. No chance of getting the team off to the solid start they are there for.

Cowan a better bet than both.

Hasn't Warner improved his first class form? I keep hearing on the radio how he now averages 61 in shield (or something like that).

No suprise at all that Warner got the nod. Obvious he was next in line.

Ed just needs to make sure he's knocking on the door when Hughes gets dropped again.

Thought Faulkner might have been in the mix as the 4th quick, to bat at 8 and provide some depth to a batting line up that looks capable of putting that 47 under pressure if we get a deck that gives the bowlers anything to work with.

Fair point Draga, but Butterworth would hold that spot better at this stage for mine. Faulkner would be a good ODI option at this stage.
