Cricket

Hughes has to go, shocking technique, thats been so badly exposed and reinforced that he has to be goneskis he is also too impetuous, and with Justin Langer available to him the kid still hasnt changed anything.

Cowan deserves a call up and in my opinion shouldve been in before Warner but thats just my opinion.

Maddinson also needs to be seriously considered going forward also.

We need a long term partnership of specialist openers, and Warner and Hughes aint it.

New Zealand are devoid of Test temprament.

McCullum has always been a slogger, Ryder is the modern day Carl Hooper, all the talent inthe world but ill disciplined, Taylor can play but also struggling too much 20 20 cricket is destroying classic cricket techniques, Brownlie looks a likely type but he is an Aussie.

Kiwis just are not playing enough Test cricket anymore theyve almost forgotten how to.

Has a major technical flaw, until he sorts that out he's no good for test cricket.

Said years ago he wont be able to & wasnt worth putting back into the team.

His technique is simply too flawed to correct. No player can shut themselves off at the crease like that & survive once teams do there homework.

Lucky for the likes of Wessels & Chanderpaul, Leysy wasn't on their side's selection panels. ::)

Writing off a kid for good before they've even played is ridiculous.

Made 88 two tests ago and contrary to popular opinion myth they weren't all bad balls until he got into the 80's. Failed four times since and has clearly gotten worse since he's been back home and the media, along with all their chattering parrots perched on the armrests of the nation haven't shut up about his technique. Clearly messing with his head. Shades of Bevan.

At least, like a true opener, he knows how to convert his fifties into hundreds, unlike the overrated not-an-openers *smile*, Watson

All for giving Hughes a go but enough is enough, back to state cricket and hopefully iron this chink out. But what happens if he makes a ton in the 2nd dig?

Oh dear.Once again Punter out LBW falling across his stumps.
Time to give the game away Ricky. The game or more to the point your body/mind has passed you by.

He still has a couple of days to announce his retirement and go out on his terms in front of his home state.

Ponting as plumb as you can get.

He actually walked before he got the decision.

Huge effort now required from Khmaja and Clarke.

His problems are as bad as Hughes'...Phil nicks em and Ricky walks across his stumps and misses em.

Yet again some good swing and seam bowling is sorting our batsmen out.

Not sure if we can afford to do without Ponting for the India series.

Our batting looks fairly spineless at the moment.

At least Ponting offers experience to the line-up.

I'd drop Hughes and Hussey, bring in a hopefully fit Marsh and Watson, and drop Punter down to Hussey's spot.

We should be looking to the Ashes.Short term pain[Ponting,Hussey] for long term gain.

Keeping Ponting, Huss and Haddin for experience is pointless when they keep failing. Rather be getting some experience in youth even if they fail.

People obssessing over Hughes & Ponting - there's a clear problem right throught the batting ranks throughout Australia. 7-81 v a popgun attack. Unless we get another 19 runs it will be the 4th time in 18 months we've been dismissed for under 100. Hardly down to just those two blokes. Unfortunately many of the mooted replacements will have similar flaws. I see people still talking up Maddinson - the kid's got a lot of talent, but he's barely scored a run all year.

A damning stat that. Happened only once in 22 years and now possibly 4 times in 18 months.

Just no steel in the side at all.
