Richmond didn't have a crisis mid year when we were 3.5 out of 11. Despite our costly draw aginst the Dawgs and our disastrous time on loss against the Saints it turns out we had the crisis when we should have - after the spoon of 2007.
Gary March did not wait until midway through the season to see the imminent disaster. He conducted, quietly, a full footy dept review after the spoon. And 3/4 of the way through the season, because of that review, he started sacking people. Sure, he hired their replacements first.
Reports suggest that Steve Wright organised the $9m odd from the federal govt. And we got the $3m from the state govt and the $2m hush money from the AFL - Judd restraint of trade threat from Carlton if WCE Vealed him to us.
Brethren, it's a lot of money. We're set up, just like Hawthorn was from their Waverley fraud. Our facilities will go from bottom end to top end over three years.
And the buck stops somewhere. It stops with March and Wright.
So when you add an 18yo Cotchin. And Foley and Lids in their early twenties, we're an exciting prospect and... we can sack/retire our coach due to illness. (Why do you think he's making all those "tough it out" comments? He can see the writing on the wall.)
We have a new 21st C structure. A new, very small, group of elite youngsters. And new benchmark facilities. We're going places. Unlike when we appointed Wallet in a two man petal sniffing show. The Oxfam duet.
We had a crisis. Did you notice? March was all over it and right now he's my pinup man.
The future is so bright. 8)
