Critical Error Percentages

Yeah I'm also surprised at the negative response received about this statistical overview...

Statistics can be a great tool, they help you analyze historical trends that allow the determination of areas to improve on.

However I do agree, statistics can be misleading, but they are only so when being used in the wrong way. Statistics should always be used in comparison to another statistic.

What I mean, is say for example, a team over a season has the least amount of goals/points scored against them. Some would say 'wow, they are the best defensive side in the comp'. However, in reality, they may be a slow tempo team and don't score much themselves... so the statistic in itself is misleading. A better way to see which team has the best defensive side would be to compare inside 50's against to scoring shots against. The team with the highest amount of inside 50's to lowest scoring shots against would be a better indication of a team's defensive ability.

Then again, i'm sure someone else would have a better idea of calculating a team's defensive ability.

That said, I do like the OP's post. But it would be nice to see from the stat recorder's, what is classed as a critical error.

But in an overall sense, it does show in a general sense, who uses the ball well. Good to see Deledio down there as the best on the list.

Went to the game last SAT and one of the things I worked out was why we are so *smile* in disposal.
There are alot of really lazy or unfit players in the side. (couldn''t run out 2nd half)
A complete lack of options coming into the forward line makes it very difficult to spot up a teamate. Channel 10 picked this up on Sat. night
The lack of presentation by the forwards makes it hard for the defenders/midfielders.
Nobody is prepared to do the gut running. RICHO is the only one.
They think if don't get it on the first lead then that's it! Good sides lead again and again! Until they get free or in front. Not our boys, lazy or unfit or both or maybe not wanting it enough?
No wonder we butcher it by the time they look up their options are covered and then they panic.

I've just gone through this thread and am astounded by how little you guys actually know about what stats and other value added information Champion Data supplies to clubs. The clubs ask us* what they want, and we supply it. There's no marketing as the clubs know that we have the numbers, we just help interpret them. The stats are just a tool, one of many, that help clubs understand what's going on a little better.

Nice post fudge, straight from the horse's mouth. I also am astounded that people didn't know this. As mentioned by others it wuld be alot clearer to know exactly what constitutes a critical error but unfortunately this s not forthcoming from the stats suppliers (Pro Stats in any case). Do Pro Stats get their statstics from you?
