Went to the game on Saturday to see how the Cubs would do against the Swans. Must say they went better than anticipated with a few of the youngsters showing out at times. However, they appeared to be a bit light on and were bullied off the ball by their more senior Swans opponents. They played much better when Kane was on the field but lost their way a bit when he went off for a spell. Jay *smile* was good both up back and forward and Cam Howatt and Brett Delidio were solid all day. The surprise packet for me was Jake King. Worked tirelessly all day, got plenty of possessions and did some great defencsive work that may have gone unnoticed by some. At one stage he was standing Adam Goodes and it was the only time in the game that Goodes was under control. Young Riewoldt looks too light to make an impression at this stage but definite potential. Krakoeur despite being mentioned amongst the best players in some press reports was extremely disappointing and needs to give more as a 'senior' player.

Welcome V, what were your thoughts on Cleve Hughes? Does he have the goods to be a player? Is he going in hard enough or does he show as if he is pulling back?

I agee with you about Reiwoldt being too light, I'm curious what his body language was like, could you hear whether he was vocal?

Young Cleve will be alright I think. He just seems to be a little under confident at this level and hence at times looks hesitant rather than having a full on go. He will continue to benefit from every senior game and realise he can really mix it at this level.

Jake was quiet (vocally). He led well and got in all the right positions but was bustled of the ball or out of the marking contest. It's the first time I've seen him and he is very light. You can tell he has the football smarts but needs to bulk up to be a major threat.

Most of the youngsters, if not all of them, did show glimpses that they will be quality senior footballers in the long term but I was really disappointed in the more senior players (Kraks, Hyde, Hartigan). As mentioned earlier, it was only the Captain that led by example. The other guys need to get some form on the board next weekend I would think.

In your eyes V , was Tabling our best players , or did the age put our best players in no particular order , reason being earlier reports suggested he made a few errors so if correct he must have turned it around as the game wore on

In reality Rock Steady, YOU wouldn't mind Tambling up there every week in our..............let's say...................top 6 every week. That would be beneficial for the club, the feral's would get off the Tambling/Buddy issue..............................and you may score Lobster Mornay again.........................or is that going to be Vlado's. ;D

I thought Tambling was ok to be honest and yes, probably in our best six or seven players. As usual, showed glimpses of brilliance. There were a lot of mistakes, not just from him but in my humble opinion a lot of that was caused by a lack of viable targets across half forward. Schulz was really the only stand out target up forward and if he wasn't available, the delivery in seemed to be rushed and hap hazard. Certainly a Brown, Richardson and/or a Pettifer would have made a significant difference with an easy target to hit and would have casued the Swans back a lot more trouble. When you look at the quality and number of players missing, a 19 point loss is looking better and better the more I try and analyse it!

This has been the case for the last few seasons. He's been the beneficiary of a dearth of small goal kicking forwards at Tigerland throughout his 'career'. Hopefully one of the kids steps up and takes that mantle.
