Streak said:The comparison to former Detroit Lions Running Back Barry Sanders in the NFL is striking here. In a sport where egos are ridiculous, Sanders was an interesting case study. His focus was totally on playing the game. Whereas other players would demand attention for achieving little things, Sanders would make a play, and not waste a bit of energy in any form of celebration, immediately focusing on what came next. He had a lot of talent, played on very poor teams, and was still a star.
I can remember a game where Sanders ran 80+ yards for a touchdown in a critical game. The stadium went nuts, his team mates went nuts, and Barry, after getting to the endzone, promptly walked over to the game official, flicked him the ball, then jogged off to prepare for the next play.
I like the sound of Baz a lot. I was very impressed with Schneider at the weekend, very impressed, classy.
