I have said it a few times now, Cousins next contract with the RFC must be a 3 to 4 year contract with part of that contract including a development coaching role once he retires.
I have to admit that I was against getting him to the club purely in regards to his age. Had we cut one or two of the 30+ group last year then I would have been more open to the idea, but we didn't so I thought it was a bad move. That being said I have to eat my words, he's been an inspired pick up. I only hope now that he can play until his mid 30s like similar midfield guns in Harvey & Buckley managed to. We still should have cut one or two of the 30+ group last year though.
How good would the Saints be if they had have taken the chance with Cuz, or how much closer the Pies to the big 2 had they stuck their neck out!
He gets it and he blocks so others can get it! He adds so much to the club, he could end up the biggest bargain in recent history!

What an inspired move. Inspirational, works his arse off, knows where to run, directs traffic, reads the play.
Another couple games like this and he must be signed up for 2 years with an option and incentives thrown in. Must be retained when he finishes his career as a midfield coach mentor to the young midfield group.
He is so vocal that even in the huddles he is often seen speaking to the group. If he continues on this vain , i think he should be named captain. He has captain material written all over him. Newman can be retained in the leadership group over go with Cuz, Deleido, Cotchin & Foley as the leaders. Maybe even add somehow Tambling in there. I know thats 5 players .

Well done Cuz. I wasnt against getting him and i am rapt first for him and secondly for us. His contribution for this club cant be underestimated and will be felt for years to come if he continues this way.

I am so happy that Cuz is doing such a great job - my email to the club to get him now seems justified. He runs, directs and unites this young team we have. He is a champion and I am hoping he is not too disappointed in us and does not want to leave at years end. We need someone like Cuz to offer us leadership and to instill in our boys a winning mentality. He makes them play harder as he hates to lose. We need that in our club. 2 more years of Cuz and none of our boys will think losing is ok.

love the way at half time when he called all the boys in to a huddle and was very vocal and loud,
Spoke to Luke mcGuane at the Cocktail party, and mentioned Cuz. He said he loves it at the Tigers, and sees himself as the older experienced guy who's been there and done that, and wants to have that affect on others by example...he said its not so much what you see on the ground...much of it is just the way he prepares himself and inspires others during the week...
I asked him about Cuz next year, he said 4 words and smiled.....

Re a possible Cuz for Captain campaign, what would be gained and conversely why we not want him as captain?
Irrespective of the outcome, it is obvious that his on-field leadership (captain or not) is outstanding for the younger players.

His ability to keep his feet while doing things others need to go to ground to do, is incredible.
He is great to have at our club... he is great to watch full stop! He is no doubt a great influence for that team/players.
Roll on 2010, I want to see our team grow in stature! With Cousins fit and leading from the front, we will certainly aspire to bigger and better things IMHO. ;D
