I would say that we need someone to make a hard decision.

But the reality is, it's not a hard decision at all. The decision is easy. It's obvious. We all know what has to happen.

The fans can see it, the media can see it, and so can the players judging by how many are contemplating a move away.

My only hope is we are working on something behind the scenes - when did McCartney leave? Middle of trade week?

The dogs had a problem.
McCartney was too hard on the players & communication between them became problematic.
We didnt hear the word, "stability" from the Dogs.
They acted.
Off went their captain, off went their coach.

People laughted and said the Dogs were in trouble.
Not so.
They responded by appointing a very good replacement in Beveridge.

Which just goes to show, making the right decisions is the difference between going places & going nowhere.
Which is why we should be dirty on Gale, O Neil & the Board.

And then there is the Geelong model circa 2006.

Yep, I was one who thought the doggies were in all sorts of strife. Sacked the coach, the captain wanted out, Cooney left, the CEO I think also changed. But low and behold.....

We all got a laugh with the Hardwick, Beveridge comparisons.
Let's move on to the Hardwick, Thompson comparisons for some more laughter.
Too put in a nutshell, Hardwick doesn't come within a bulls roar of either.

The only Hardwick/Thompson comparisons are that Thompson had been at Geelong for a quite a while, they had a poor year, Balme came in......

No reason to suspect that history will repeat itself though

It seems to me the club have themselves in a bind with Dimma due to the contract they gave him. I get the impression that they are going to surround him with as much quality as they can get to the club.

Balmey is the first appointment, wouldn't be surprised to see some highly regarded assistants to arrive - only hope that anyone that comes in is able to convince Dimma to change his gameplan. :P

Thompson had already won multiple finals and taken them to a prelim by that time

Surley your not comparing Geelong FC with RFC.
Frank Costa, Brian Cooke, Steven Wells and a senior coach who actually had football smarts.
V
Peggy O Niel, Brendan Gale, Francis Jackson & Damien.

I think we have been belted out of the ballpark.

Yes the club is in a painted into a corner bind, so Hardwick is given a soft landing (like his 7 yrs coaching) instead of flaming out on the runway. either way he needs be gone ASAP

yep. watching last night when Bevo changed things up and the players responded i thought wow, that is what it is all about. the relationship between a coach and his team. intent and application. it was as good as it gets. Hardwick should, but won't, take a deep look at it.
VERY NICE OBSERVATION

No I am not expecting history to repeat itself and if you read my post I have said I am not.

I am just saying that the factual similarities are there.

Pfff

Did anyone notice that all Hardwick claimed was that we would make finals next year.

Not to win one.

If that was achieved it would make five years of no improvement.

And Benny and Peggy are happy with that?

I think Hardwick should go HOWEVER - I remember watching Talking Footy when the Geelong review was on, thinking Bomber was a chump. Amazingly, 99% of people on a site like this know bugger-all about what it takes to run a high-performance team, so Pfft really isn't that compelling a counter-argument.

Heh heh heh Richmond apologists will be quoting that when Hardwick enters his 20th year without a finals victory.

We have to hang out hats on something

Dimma like resilience some of these apologists

Thank goodness for the Frawley years, otherwise GWS would have gone passed us for finals wins this century- hang your hat on that too Baloo ;D
