Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke

Influence

n 1736 the King's Bench, under his presidency, delivered the seminal judgment in Middleton v. Crofts 2 Atk 650, which held that canons made in the provincial clergy convocations could not, by themselves, bind the lay faithful. He held the office of lord chancellor longer than any of his predecessors, with a single exception. His decisions fixed limits and established principles of Equity. His influence was powerful in obliterating the traditions of the judicial bench under the Stuart monarchy, and in establishing the modern conception of the duties and demeanour of English judges. While still at the bar Lord Chesterfield praised his conduct of crown prosecutions as a contrast to the former bloodhounds of the crown; and he described Sir Philip Yorke as naturally humane, moderate and decent.

So what have the changes been to the coaching team over the off season - is it just McCrae in for Bailey and Clarke?

Top four list for sure. Should have gone from 15th to premiership favourites in one season if Dimma was a competent coach

If we are talking rebuilds shouldn't you be comparing Hinkley's third year with Hardwick's third year or perhaps mentioning Hinkley won three finals games in his first two years of the rebuild and missed a GF spot by a whisker.

Also 12 wins not bad seeing Port played top 8 sides more than any other team.

BTW other than a few superstars including Wingard and Grey Port's list is pretty ordinary, especially back half and vastly inferior to ours.

Excuses.

Fact is that based on 2015 we are ahead of Port Adelaide.

Your better than that Sin.

Silly post when discussing rebuilds which clearly Hinkley has done faster and better ( 3 finals wins) with what I consider a worse list.

True.
What really stands out like proverbials is that Hardwick is yet to coach a winning final in three attempts.
If Dan Richardson and Brendan Gale haven't clued in to Hardwicks deficiencies as a coach by now then this club is in trouble.

Talk of extending his contract is just absurd.
It will come back to bite those running the football dept in a big way.
And so it should.

Now now Lamby, let's not bring out the silly post argument hidden with an olive branch ;D . Whether we or Port had a worse list is opinion only

Comparisons with Hinkley and B Scott get trotted out and the facts are that based on home and away results Dimma compares pretty well against them, especially in the last 3 years. Then there is the issue of finals of course and that is the achilles heal of Dimma's record, no doubt. I am not denying it nor trying to argue against it. He and the team need to set that right for him to be considered a real success.

Dimma has managed to get us into the finals the last 3 years which is something Scott and Hinkley haven't done so that's a tick for him. Win a few finals and he definitely can lay claim to be their equal.

Not to mention that both Scott and Hinkley inherited lists that were in better shape than ours was when Hardwick first came in.

The Port list that win them 5 games in 2012 (and 3 in 2011)? The RFC list won 5 games in 2009.
