Re: Damien Hardwick

The most telling part for me was him twice saying " they're a very mediocre football side" when describing our current situation.

He used "we" in other references to the team but "they're " in those instances. No responsibility for dimma.

Re: Damien Hardwick

4 words - out of his depth

the key now is finding someone who can successfully coach at this level. We need someone who can come in and take over the playing list and instil a game plan and confidence in the players to bounce straight back up the ladder. We cannot afford to keep falling and wait another 10 years to play finals again.

Re: Damien Hardwick

we need to handball the ball more not enough handballing to people 3 metres behind you when your already clear and running towards goal and your forwards have made the hard lead. Also we need make sure we don't train players to kick with both feet grigg jackson houli rance. Also were not slowing the play up enough we need to to slowly switch play so the opposing team doesnt get caught on the counter attack and dump all their players in our 50 and then show us how u really rebound from back half. Lastly isn't it great how richmond take forever to resolve a problem on our list.Remember how long it took for us to get a half decent ruckmen and we persisted with gus even though any person with half a brain could see he was not up to it (not even close ask adelaide their dummer than us). Now its the small forward position king nahas lloyd banfield all good vfl players. A small forward should have some silk be able to do special things at times. Betts sometimes does it garlett sometimes does it cyril well just ask dermie he's cyrils *smile*. Harvey ballantyne eliott thomas(north) MATTY WHITE and more all better than our small forwards. White didn't leave coz of money only he was sick of being undervalued. he's no cyril but we dropped him on and off so many times when on our list he was good enough to be a regular.

Re: Damien Hardwick

yep, beavis is way out of his depth, unfortunately.

Sliding doors... I wonder where we'd be if Hinkley got the job.

Roos out coached Hinkley big time yesterday. I know he is trying to retire, but Roos is a great example of the type of coach we need at this point. He has totally transformed an absolute basketcase in 8 weeks.

I honestly dont know who we should get. I cant believe i m considering Rats and Crazy Vossy.

Worse. His mouth would've got us in the *smile* long ago.
He talks too much, "we are too strong" "we have belief" "we don't stop running"
All this stuff would've come and bit him on the ass...

Re: Damien Hardwick

You've tried your best Dimma but your clearly a very average game day coach. In the best interest of the club it would be wise to step down at the end of season and make way for someone else.

This club can't progress under your current game style and plan, plus your recruiting has been deplorable.

Re: Damien Hardwick

In the press conference...Hardwick mentioned that we were a mediocre side....

I remind everyone that's what they said about Port Adelaide before Hinkly got there....

And we all know how bad Melbourne were last year...... great leader different results.

Time to look at Hardwick as the obvious problem...

Re: Damien Hardwick

We haven't had any success bringing in outsiders. Northey just by coincidence a Hafey disciple was the last coach who put any spine into us. Amongst the army of ex Tigers who have gone onto success elsewhere is their a modern day Swooper ready to return?

I am thinking that it's time for Sheedy. Maybe well past use by date but he has credibility. He does not put up with sh!te like we serve up, would not indulge those with egos and big heads. He has nothing to prove in football but he had a love for Tom Hafey exceeded by no one. Maybe the greatest testimony he could ever pay to Tommy is to come back to Punt Rd and restore the tenancious, ruthless qualities which defined the Hafey era and are so missing today off and on field.

Charge him with bringing in a team of assistants including his likely successor, open cheque book.

Re: Damien Hardwick

He is safe until the end of next year. What's the bet we scrape into the finals with a whimper next year and a new contract is handed to him. The club is gutless with its selections both on and off the field. Is it too much to ask to be more professional and ruthless?

Exactly. Don't tell me melb has a better playing list than us. No way!!! So why with the same players can they all of a sudden be a better team than us. Play a better game. Be more hungry. I tell u why. The coach DEMANDS it.
Dimma accepts mediocre. If they r mediocre drop them and find others. No well hope they turn it around.
He's the problem well n truely. No doubt about it.

Re: Damien Hardwick

I don't know who can come in, but please don't consider Crazy Vossy or Kevin Sheedy, for the good of the club Hardwick has to step aside and we need to bring in someone who can work with what Hardwick has built. We're in a lot better position list wise than we we were when most of the other new coaches over the past 32 years have been when they took over, and that's largely due to Hardwick, but he's gone as far as he can. However considering that our President seems to think everything is just hunky dory and there is no need for a review this will not happen and Hardwick will continue to struggle until the end of his current contract, by which time we'll be right back to where we were when he first arrived at the club. It's the endless cycle with Richmond and I don't think it's ever going to be broken.

It's an endless cycle when you have blind faith for the sake of stability. Nous is required by the decision makers for when to pull the plug.

The problem is that everything they say and do seems to indicate that they believe in that blind faith and don't have the nous or the ruthlessness that is required.

Re: Damien Hardwick

King and Newman, 2 of our best 6, have made a massive difference.

Re: Damien Hardwick

Most players, particularly senior leaders, try and make themselves available to play.
In no way do I blame Jacko for putting his hand up to play last night, it is what is expected of him.
The blame, as always with team selection, is totally on Dimma and the match committee.
Seeing as Dimma leads the match committee, it's again effectively his call.

Dimma has really poor form on this issue.
Last year, playing Cotchin and Reiwoldt the next week after they hyper-extended their knees, and then wondering why they were sub-standard for weeks after.
In 2012, driving Maric into the ground late in the season, for no upside whatsoever given finals were out of the question. Reiwoldt and others also.
Most sensible clubs look after their players late in the year when there is nothing to play for, and blood kids for experience.

In his coaching career, Hardwick has shown he has learnt nothing by repeating these mistakes time after time.
At his prezza last night, he indicated he would be doing the same thing this year, by effectively refuting that it was time for blooding of new talent.

Now would be a great time to bring in Helbig on the back of his improving form, and give him a month in the seniors, guaranteed.
Elton also.
Miles should have been in when King went out. That really is a farce.

But I doubt this will happen. It doesn't fit into Hardwick's robotic process driven Plan A.
