Re: Damien Hardwick

Players don't respect him and won't play for him.

It only makes me think that the "rumour" of a massive divide in the club (#teamchoco or #teamdimma) must have some truth.

Most players, particularly senior leaders, try and make themselves available to play.
In no way do I blame Jacko for putting his hand up to play last night, it is what is expected of him.
The blame, as always with team selection, is totally on Dimma and the match committee.
Seeing as Dimma leads the match committee, it's again effectively his call.

Dimma has really poor form on this issue.
Last year, playing Cotchin and Reiwoldt the next week after they hyper-extended their knees, and then wondering why they were sub-standard for weeks after.
In 2012, driving Maric into the ground late in the season, for no upside whatsoever given finals were out of the question. Reiwoldt and others also.
Most sensible clubs look after their players late in the year when there is nothing to play for, and blood kids for experience.

In his coaching career, Hardwick has shown he has learnt nothing by repeating these mistakes time after time.
At his prezza last night, he indicated he would be doing the same thing this year, by effectively refuting that it was time for blooding of new talent.

Now would be a great time to bring in Helbig on the back of his improving form, and give him a month in the seniors, guaranteed.
Elton also.
Miles should have been in when King went out. That really is a farce.

But I doubt this will happen. It doesn't fit into Hardwick's robotic process driven Plan A.
I'd like to see what you suggest with team selection, but the press conference does indicate that he'll do what you say. Being that it's a selection panel, can't someone else on it speak up if they think the wrong call is being made?

just trying to give dimma a helping hand

Re: Damien Hardwick

I was extremely deflated when he admitted we have nothing to bring in from the VFL, or he will stick with the same plonkers regardless of how bad they are.

When we are 3-11 something severe will happen.

Do yourself a favour Dimma, go to Benny towards the end of the season, negotiate a payout and leave, you will drag this club into the poo if you hang around.

That's not what I took out of his press conference.
Old conservative reactive habits die hard.
He'll probably make one change, just for appearances sake.

Yes of course others can speak up and have their say.
But doesn't appear they are making much if any impact .
We have a bunch of Yes men around Dimma, because either they agree with his "play injured players" philosophy, or they are too p!ss weak to sway him otherwise.
Either way, not good.
But as stated, if the coach wants his way, he gets his way.

Makes you wonder why they bother having a panel then. Damien could just text or email his selections on Thursday afternoon and they can just go 'righto' and off we go. One change may be made as you say for appearances sake, but nothing will change.

he said we're a very mediocre football side - both times

I just watched it again, you are right. I could have sworn last night when I watched it he said they're. Must have been too emotional.

Apologies dimma.

Re: Damien Hardwick

Can anyone picture Hardwick taking us to ruthless finals success?

Unless this seasons results are some master plan to tank?

Picture a review after our finals loss. We determine this list is okay but not a top 4.

The draft will finally be uncompromised by the new clubs.

We decide to tank a bit, since pushing hard won't get us to top four. So Hardwick feels secure knowing he will be blamed, we give him a contract extension.

It is a stretch, but that shows how much imagination I require to link Hardwick and success.

Ghost, we're all having to dig deep into the imagination to conjure up anything resembling "success".
Whichever way, I do like a good conspiracy theory.

Re: Damien Hardwick

Hardwick and his stats. He can shove the stats up his clacker.
Fair dickum. We don't run, we don't sheppard, we don't talk, we can't kick and he is worried about contested possessions.

Re: Damien Hardwick

It was just a few weeks ago that Dimma said we were a better side this year than last year, now we are just a mediocre side.

Re: Damien Hardwick

He is understating it. I reckon we are worse than mediocre. Actually Hardwick can't even come up with something original. A couple of weeks ago Lyon called his side mediocre. Hardwick is as usual one step behind and just copying others lead. Shocking coach. Full stop.

Strange thing in all this, is that we could all go through the remaining 12 weeks feeling numb, go through the summer all feeling grumpy with Dimma still at the helm, and yet 2015 could all of a sudden become a season of success we never believed would happen...........all to call 2014 an 'aberration'.

Time heals pain. Let them fix themselves. I've seen enough sh!t from this club all my life which is why I'm such a back bencher nowadays. Got better things to do.
