Daniel Jackson threads [Merged]

Re: Daniel Jackson

says a lot about some of the spuds were carrying when jackson is no longer in our worst 3 players...

Re: Daniel Jackson

Probably in the best 6 but if Grigg and Jackson keep racking up the outside ball we aren't going very far. Agree with the theory teams roll off him and force him to make the play. It's pretty obvious.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Thought Jacko was pretty solid tonight, however i cant say as much about our decorated midfielders. They're the ones who set the standard high. As for Jacko, we all know where he is at, and based upon his recent form, tonight's game was good.

We need to upgrade him but as it is he's the best we have for his position.

Re: Daniel Jackson

I like Jacko's toughness but when he gets the ball any forward momentum stops. Seems to want to stop & then go backwards or sideways .... And the oppositions seems happy to let him do it!

That tends to happen when you don't have any team mates running in support or moving and leading to create options. Jacko was one of our few decent players on the night, the whole team seemed to stand around waiting for something to happen and lacked the skills to do anything competent when it did. Esserdope in contrast had run, spread and decent skills all over the ground n made us look incompetent.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Jackson got stooged of a goal in first. No way known that hit the post until after it was touched behind the line.

Jacko gets the ball a major plus. He is hard at it a major plus. If he kicked it long and forward everyone would be singing his praises. So I put it down to coaches instructions who had the players scared to take the game on.

It happened too often. Players such as Martin are totally unaccountable. They won't man up or run hard enough. Great when they have the ball, but lazy and won't work hard enough to run, support or offer an alternative option, we had too many bludgers last night.
Insipid effort. p!ss poor game plan and execution. Poor selection. The whole gamut.
Jacko was one of the few exceptions.

Martin looks like his doesn't want to be there. Don't worry about him manning up.
Players like Grigg, deledio and Edwards are the first to pack it in. Where's deledio run? Where's Edwards run? What isn't Grigg just go back to Carlton.
Are they playing him to show that they can trade? Who ever found him needs the chop..

Martin played deep forward for long periods of the game and still managed to rack up 22 possessions. Another move I was scratching my head about. Sure it kept Fletcher quieter but surely you put your best midfielders where the ball is as often as possible.

Re: Daniel Jackson

They just showed a Jackson piece from last night on the tele and it highlighted his clangers sheesh we can't sustain this bloke getting a game and don't get me started on Lonergan he is pure garbage

Re: Daniel Jackson

Great game from Jacko, won a lot of contested ball and hand-balled it out of the packs to good effect. Most importantly he got where the ball was, unlike most of our other midfielders.

Yep the Jacko cheer squad may cheer when he gets possessions (irregardless of what he may do with them) but the opposition have the last laugh. The more involved he is, the happier they are. I know if I supported another side I would be very happy if Jackson was Richmond's main possession winner.

Especially when the opposition are toweling you up in the middle.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Thought the hard, competitive, push it forward footy style which Essendon beat us with in the centre of the ground showed why Jackson is playing. There isn't anyone to replace him with otherwise why would Lonergan, Nahas and White be playing?

And that in itself is an indictment on the coach. He should have been responsible for weeding out these types and replacing them but he hasn't. So after four years there are no more excuses. It's been long enough to at least try something different. For god's sakes, Lonergan was only brought in this year!!! Why bring in another guy who can't kick. Would have preferred trying someone like Ben Ross or even Myles Sewell. Why not try something different??? Should be churning the list but it ain't happening anymore.
