Daniel Jackson threads [Merged]

Re: Daniel Jackson

How good was Jacko? The Age has him as BOG, he's in the poll for 'player of the round', get on and vote. Huge strength and drive out of the centre clearances and packs in the second quarter really got us going and lifted the side. Great composure, ran and ran in support, pressured them relentlessly. Just a great game. That goal was classic Jacko, and the good fortune of it clearing the pack summed up our night. We've worked hard and been a bit stiff this year in a couple of games, not last night. Loved watching Jacko's game last night.

Re: Daniel Jackson

I am so happy to read your post snakey. Agree 100%. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who thought that way and if people would think I was Dan's Mum when I was the only one for quite a while who'd given him votes.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Link to poll.

I hope PRE votes heaps...at least enough to get Dan above Swan. Maybe each vote can count as a slice of humble pie.

It was a great team game and you can throw a blanket over the best, but for setting the tone, Jacko, White, and Vlastuin best 3. A maligned workhorse, a fringe player most thought gone, and a 5 gamer.

Yet the coaches didn't think he was in the best 5 Tiger players, and that Deledio should have been in the poll. I guess everyone sees things differently...

Callan Ward was nominated in a 95-point loss.

What I know is when he gets coaches votes some people scoff and suggest their knowledge is far superior. When he doesn't get in the coaches are the footy oracles. Thats having it both ways.

You could argue a case for 10 players being in the best last night. Jacko undoubtedly in that group. His second Q when the game was blown apart he was tremendous, as he was all game.

Re: Daniel Jackson

jacko can be a duff duff..but he generally has been quite excelent this year....its worth just spending a bit of time watching all the little, but important things he does...

Must have been good. I remember Flea and Knighter always doing well in media awards when we were terrible.

The blinkers most on here wear when it comes to Jacko prevent them from seeing what he does for the whole game.

The coaches know the truth.

Indeed. Jacko a walk up start each week and has polled well in the coaches votes. Last night was a vote raffle

He's only polled in 2 games.

Thought Lids was clear best then Vlossy.
Jacko was good after 1/4 time, throw a blanket over him and 7 or 8 other players for votes....even contributions.

In the top 10, tremendous result for an unfashionable team man in my book. I got no problem with Lids as BOG, he was brilliant, but we're agreed, Jacko in the best. Having a great year, Geelong game only blip.

Re: Daniel Jackson

I'm not a fan at all but he was good by his standards last night... As long as Dan Jackson remembers his Dan Jackson he can be some value

He was very good by any standards last night.

agree... But sometimes jacki forgets his bit that player and tries to run and bounce and baulk and pull the trigger on impossible kicks only to see them sail 7 rows back

That's what I meant by he can be very valuable when he remembers who he is and just sticks to his role... Like he did so well last night

Re: Daniel Jackson

Yes and no. Sometimes when he has nothing to go to he has a crack and takes them on, often it comes off through his strength, sometimes it doesn't. (His goal last night was an example of it coming off) I have no doubt he's instructed to do that. But when it doesn't come off people focus on it and don't shut up, when it does come off its silence, crickets. As I've already said, the Geelong game was the only game this year when he tried to do to much, tried to thread the eye of a needle through the corridor or backline too often. I can totally understand how people can argue his turnovers cost us in that one game. As his prez I'd argue he was trying to get things happening and taking a punt, didn't have a lot to go to, but I completely understand the opposite view and criticism of him in that one game. What annoys me is the auto response of 'drop the coaches pet Jacko' regardless of what he has actually done in a game.

edit: a lot of normally or formerly Jacko baggers have acknowledged his good work this year, more each week, which I appreciate. There are a still a few hard-core auto-baggers, (there was at least 1 'drop Jacko' on the changes for Adel thread, amazing) and a lot of people have an entrenched inability to properly tot up the good with the bad. I think he'll always be maligned, his clangers can stand out and a fair bit of his good work doesn't stand out.
