5 days without a Daniel Jackson post....we must be winning a few ;D

All still in shock with the quality kick in the last to set up Grigg for a goal. Jacko would be top 5 in the B&F right now???

Re: Daniel Jackson

After some saying his job on Dangerfield was not great I had a close look at the last half on replay.

Last quarter

Adelaide kicked the first two goals to get to within 19 points. Dangerfield was not involved in these goals.

Jackson was then involved in 3 of the next 5 goals.

1. 17 mins to go - he roves the pack at CHF and handballs to Ellis in space. Ball kicked forward, held in until Maric kicks the momentum switcher.
2. 10 mins to go - handball receive at half forward, Jackson passes inside 50m to Grigg
3. 8 mins to go - at CHF, Jackson wins contested ball, handballs to Ellis in space who passes to Edwards (Dusty intercepts and kicks goal. Tiges 50 points up, game over.

In the last quarter Dangerfield had only one truly effective play - he intercepted Jackson's handball ran around the boundary and kicked a remarkable goal from 52m. This occured with only 3 mins left.

Jackson had other useful contributions during the quarter including outmarking Dangerfield on the half back flank.

While Dangerfield did win a few contested possessions, he was often under pressure and his disposals did not have an impact.

Whenever Jackson got the ball, he was not under very much pressure at all (Dangerfield either running forward or not applying pressure) and because he was not under pressure, he was able to hit targets and make good decisions. As we know, Jacko's disposal can be very ordinary when under pressure.

So, in the last quarter, Jackson was way more influential than Dangerfield.

Third Quarter

They both had good quarters, with Dangerfield just getting the honours.

Re: Daniel Jackson

I felt Dangerfield's disposal was average and his inability to give off to players in better positions was poor. His ball winning was first rate and perhaps he tried to lead by his selfishness to get them over the line.

this is my view as well - he wins a contested possession almost at will, however its not much use if you simply turn it over -

fwiw, i thought Dusty was BOG

in addition, i reckon when Jackson was on Dangerfield in the 2nd, which wasnt the whole 1/4 but at different stages he did a reasonable job. Clangerfield got about half of his possies playing as a forward that quarter.
Clangers was good though. wouldnt mind him running around at Coburg competing with Longers to be next cab off the rank when injuries hit our mids.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Dangerfield was a clear BOG. The kid is a star so no disgrace our boys getting beat by him.

Can we bring back Disco please. Would love to go through the virtues of him not wanting to trade Daniel Connors for him a few years back when Clanger was out of contract. ;D He had quite a few supporters at the time as well.

Wish we'd have made a big play for him back then.

Should've made a play for him for sure.
His only got another 2 years to go, but he would be worth 2 1st rounders

Re: Daniel Jackson

It will be interesting to see how we use Jacko tomorrow, maybe goes to their Griff?

Re: Daniel Jackson

I have been a massive Jackson bagger over the past 2 to 3 years, but i have to give credit where it is due, when he is not trying to be fancy, he has played well, he has helped us win the past few weeks, if he can perform, he has a place in the team, and that is all I ever ask of a player, he has been good, well done Jacko.

Also Houli and Grigg have turned it around a bit the past few weeks, maybe they had a rocket, as they were both struggling imho.

Like you Jamo, I put my hand up in regard to having massive doubts about Jackson. I never have really underrated his commitment, it has been more about his decision-making and skill deficiencies. And, yes, he has been an important cog in our improvement this season.
I'm still not quite sure about Grigg though ... will bide my time on that opinion.
