Turnovers are still shocking but no doubt he tries his heart out. Still don't know about his long-term future.

Have to give credit where its due. I think he's cut down on his turnovers this year. No doubt they are still higher than average but I think he has benefited greatly from a better quality and quantity of good players around him in the midfield. He's certainly the toughest, hardest bodied midfielder we have. A good mix is important. Interestingly, statistically Deledio is averaging 8.1 turnovers per game and is #1. Jackson is 2nd with 8.0 and Tuck third on 7.8.

Agree. Don't think he and Tuck will be/can be played in the same team when Foley is back. And IMO Tuck represents better value.

We have enough contested ball winners in Tuck/Martin/Foley/Cotchin/Deledio (when in midfield) we need to add some class outside.

He does try hard but he too often cannot execute the basics

Agreed goody. He's getting stronger and smarter to go with his toughness, and as you say, disposal is improving. As I've said like a stuck record, a footy side is not all Brett Deledios. I liken him to Kirk and J Lewis, both integral parts of their side and both not Gilbee-seque kicks of the footy.

Jacko is going great.

Maybe from a short-focused view this is true. However Jackson is a good 3.5 years younger than Tuck. Tuck is 29 at the end of the year and as we've seen lately, it's getting harder and harder for the older players to continue as late as they may have in the past due to the step up in intensity over the last couple of years. Right now if you had the longer term future in mind, I reckon you'd have to go for Jackson purely for age. They are very similar players in many ways. Jackson has a little more run than Tuck and can break lines a little better in my view. Tuck tends to get a little more of it. Both have below par disposal.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Has attributes that can not be taught in toughness and leadership (really important to have in a young team), whereas skill can be improved overtime. Does his part for the team week in week out, lets give him credit for that!!

You are probably right (I just have a bit of a soft spot for tucky). Also, Jackson is definitely a better "kick" in the pure sense he just misses too many simple passes for mine

Think we should try and trade him to Sydney as a Kirk replacement
They may offer a half decent pick

I was always under the impression that Jacko was a well respected leader around the club, if we trade these types of players then what kind of message does that send to the younger Martin and Nason types "Hey boys you should be loyal to us and sign with us, by they way we're trading Daniel Jackson" that doesn't sit well with me. Don't get me wrong, I understand the trading of players is part of the game, but there's certain types of players that you can trade out of your club that can really unbalance things on and off the field, to me Jacko is one of these guys.

Re: Daniel Jackson

pretty sure that he's our toughest tagger/inside player. nullifying the opponent and getting the ball don't seem to be problems for Dan. Finessing a major worry so just kick the thing long. Dont think - do. Jack, Griff + Newman Martin, Cotchin, Nason, Whitey, Titch, Collins etc drifting fwd will take care of the rest.

Re: Daniel Jackson

I've been sticking up for Action for years. Crucial to our season because he plays so hard (along with Tuck) and takes the heat off boys like Cotchin and Martin.

But he has not improved in 2010. Not a mm.

Sure. We can all see that he is carrying something. But he is just back from three weks off with no improvement.

Time is on his side. And he has the rest of 2010 to bloom.

But if Daniel Jackson cannot improve under this regime he is manyana.

He's tomorrow? :hihi

Maybe Jacko hasn't improved under this regime because so many of the things Dimma demands he was already doing. I'm a supporter too but he's not a natural footballer; as book-smart as he is, maybe he's a slow learner footywise. He has come a long way though in the last 3-4 years and you know he's going to do everything to wring the absolute best out of himself. He's as tough as they come and one of the few mongrels we have, as well as a leader within the team, so he'll be given every chance.

Off Dan's twitter today:

At the Chiro, about to get my neck put back into place. I'd nearly forgotten how hard this game is on your body! #gottaloveit

Re: Daniel Jackson (Please merge could not find original topic)

Its a pain in the neck trying to tag Judd.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Very poor game tonight I thought from Daniel.

Needs to work on his awareness and stop playing on and hand balling to team mates in the wrong position and costing us the turn over.

What is with diving on the ball in front of the oppositions goal? So stupid, everyone knows that is holding the ball every single time! Cost the side a goal at another vital time!

Wasn't game enough to slag off the current golden boy.(Or more likely consumed by Edwards comedy capers) But I'm glad someone else can see it and saw it tonight.

He should know after 7 years to play the percentages. If it's not instictive by now I doubt it ever will be. The personification of inherent Richmond mediocrity that gets overrated by our ever hopeful (read delusional) fans, I'm afraid.

Re: Daniel Jackson

was in our best 3 players for the first 3 quarters tonight. like the rest of the team struggled in the last.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Playing defensive mid tonight. Wasn't too bad. Never going to be the cleanest mid. He was very swan and pendelbury minded the entire night
