Daniel Jackson threads [Merged]

Re: Daniel Jackson

Loved his work when Cotch was getting touched up on Sat.

He needs to keep walking the line like that without crossing it. We are building an elite midfield and we need Jacko there to protect the boys from mongrel niggling defensive rough-up tactics.

We are a much better side with him in it. Another huge improver under Hardwick.

loved the throat slam.

not sure he has improved but he certainly knows his role better and with more quality around him opposition peel off him to ensure the better users dont get the handball receive. its fine with me because his kicking when not under pressure is ok

He can kick a long ball deep & not a bad shot for goal.

Agree with that. Tuck not being in the side has enabled Jacko to play more inside. The benefits are two-fold.

It means he is playing a role suited to his strengths & the team is better off because we can now play better outside players where Jackson came unstuck through lack of skill & crucially leg speed.

When blokes play close to the edge, sometimes they overstep the mark.

What would people prefer? That we continue being the side that clubs walk over.

Agreed, josey.

and perhaps being a little over ambitious through necessity. not his fault

When Jackson keeps it simple and stays within his skill set he has value. I think that the addition of Grigg, Houli, Foley, Conca, to the midfield has redefined his role and it suits him better. Bash and crash, get it out to those on the outside and then do the grunt work. I think this year has been has been his best because the gameplan and supporting cast is geared to keep him defined within the things that suit his skills.

The throat slam of Duffield was the level of aggression he needs to play with but none of the stupid, cheap, sniper actions.

Has escaped a lot of scrutiny this year.

Out Jackson
In Tuck
agree, prob his poorest game i can remember...... said to a mate today if jacko wasnt 90 odd kgs and a brut he wouldnt get a game

Re: Daniel Jackson

There was a passage of play that highlighted his limitations today. He got it in the middle and because he cant kick on his left foot just bombed it with his right out to space on the wing, compared to a left foot kick that would have put it in a dangerous position. Needless to say Melbourne took it away from there.

For a smart man he can be a very dumb footballer.

Have never been a fan.
