Daniel Jackson threads [Merged]

Re: Daniel Jackson

Funnily enough I said the same thing to dyers disciple at the game. Is down in clearances etc since last year.

Time to ask him to step up. We need him bollocking through packs to up our clearances.

What are Jackson's clearance rates this year?

Time to turn the screws on him.

He's not smart enough around the clinches and fumbles way too much. Tuck is twice as good with his clearance and contested work.

I was happy enough for Jackson to stay in the team but only if he tags out opposition playmakers. Hasn't done much of that this year. In fact his opponents seem to be smashing him ie Moloney today. We need some better inside mids. Smarter ones with good disposal. That involves drafting some more.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Overated and deficient in a couple of facets of footy.

Dud - delist ............ hopefully trade.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Yep.

Effective clearances are 2.2 a game, 59th in the league. Only Cotchin (3.8, 8th) is in the top 50 for us. Jackson's contested get numbers are still good (up on previous years if anything) but his disposal stats are shocking. He has only twice the number of kicks to advantage compared to kicks to the opposition. Amongst the top 100 clearance players (aside from Clangerfield) no one really has a ratio that bad. Not even the ruckmen. Most of them have 4 or 5 times more kicks to advantage.

Too often the player Jackson is assigned to, still has a huge impact on the game.

Moloney smashed him today.

One of the biggest touch ups I have seen in a long time. At times Jackson just kick chased and left Moloney.

Thought Dimma didn't do enough to crub Beamer. Just let him run his own race.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Same old, same old from Jacko. Poor decision maker and for a smart fella he takes an eternity in picking his options. Today he turned his back on the play to take a shot and missed an opportunity to dish it off to Edwards who was 30m out directly in front - suffice to say he missed the shot.

Re: Daniel Jackson

It's the first year that Jackson hasn't made a significant improvement from the year before. Actually I reckon he's probably gone backwards. Not sure what his instructions are but something's not working with him.

Massive trade bait. Work him into a deal.

Possibly. Jackson certainly gets a lot more praise from people outside of the club than his own supporters give him.

I guess everyone else is silly.

Re: Daniel Jackson

What's the thinking of fellow bloggers on Shaun Grigg. Could he play the role Tuck and Jackson have been set over the past couple of seasons? From alot of the articles written about him when Richmond recruited him, I was under the impression this was the type of player he was viewed as at the time.

Similar to how the general football public were looking at today's game and thinking that somehow, things are now different and we would win a crunch game. The general football public don't understand the RFC.

Has escaped a lot of scrutiny this year.

Out Jackson
In Tuck

yes and no.

Jackson has been hopeless and would drop him but would not bring in Tuck.

Jackson is a very ordinary tagger and his direct opponent almost always plays a good game. We are in desperate need of a stopper, and Jackson is not it.

Jackson provides very little defensively and even less offensively. I don't care if he has a big body, this isn't wrestlemania. His hands and mind in tight are mega slow and any momentum we have breaks down whenever he's in the picture. He plays alot in the center square yet wins very few clearances. we are the worst in the league for clearances

he's in his 8th season, and is a seasoned senior player, yet provides very little and it amazes me how he gets by with very little criticism. the blow torch must be applied on him.

Hislop should get time in the middle at the expense of jackson, at least he has quick hands and a quick mind and can provide that "big body" hardwick requires. Also playing Hislop as a defensive forward is a complete waste of time because he does not have the required pace to harass, and apply pressure.

Time to stop the Jackson farce. and Tuck is not the answer. If I were in charge both won't get a look in. They've had enough opportunities. Hislop and Grigg should get an extended run in the middle to see if they have what it takes, coz one things for certain, jackson doesn't.

Re: Daniel Jackson

Good too see more people finally starting to wake up to *smile* and see him for the dumb footballer and liability he always has been. (except of course for certain delusional little care bears)

Re: Daniel Jackson

To me he seems to be a selfish player, many times yesterday he went for shots on goal when there were better opportunites around him, needs to fix this!

Re: Daniel Jackson

Jacko is important to our side. You need a balance in your side. I listened to a Geelong person speak recently and he said that Cam Ling is crucial to Geelong. He adds balance. He is unfashionable and not a silky player but you need a player like him to crash and bash and play in a near unfashionable manner. Jackson hasn't had a great year but I believe he still is important to our future.

Ling is way better than Jackson.
